In United States politics, a sore-loser law is a law which states that the loser in a primary election can't then run as an independent in the general election.[1] In most states, these laws do not apply to presidential candidates. Many states accomplish the same requirement by having simultaneous registration dates for the primary and the general election; in fact only the states of Connecticut, Iowa, New York and Vermont don't have either a sore-loser law or simultaneous registration deadlines.[2]

In Michigan, one of the few states where this law applies to Presidential elections as well, Gary Johnson was three minutes late to withdraw from the 2012 Republican Primary and was therefore on the ballot. As a result, he was denied ballot access as a Libertarian. The case is currently pending arguments in the Michigan Supreme Court. However, the Libertarian Party stated that since petitioning in Michigan is by party, not by person, a Texas businessman who is also named Gary E. Johnson will stand in and run for president as a Libertarian in Michigan in the event that Governor Johnson is denied access. [3]

but ordinary deadlines are. It would be very difficult w/o being given the LP top of the ticket, and for a while I thought from things people were saying that that was on the table or possibly under consideration. I don't think it is now, although I would love to be wrong.

But I sure hope Ron leads C4L, and not in a 'pragmatic' way but in an idealistic, Ron Paul way.

I have a theory why people NEED to keep coming to Ron's forum to try to get troops, and it isn't just because the presidential race is the shiny object, it is because Ron's flame burns pure and bright and people are willing to do anything for him, accordingly. If SOMEONE isn't carrying that flame I think numbers will drop. And he seems to be the only one pure enough at the moment. But we'll see.

I don't think it's fair to say he needs a break seeing as if he beat Romanator he would still be fighting to beat the Obamanator. However if he doesn't want to run 3rd party he shouldn't have to. I just don't see it, theres not time. He would of had to announce this like yesterday. I don't think GJ is trying to get him either, I think he is trying to get us. I just hope that people keep up the fight and doesn't all turn into a lost cause.
