Why such little support for Whole Foods?

Those who are trying to debunk this organic thing need to seriously think about what would happen if we suddenly didn't have chemical fertilizers and pesticides. We'd be screwed because all of our growing soil would be COMPLETELY worthless.. Organic farming means you are keeping the environment healthy and thriving using natural methods that can be replicated over and over. Chemical fertilizers are (you guessed it..) petroleum based!

Real environmentalists know that our survival is dependent on a healthy ecosystem. Others believe we can just cement over everything and some how continue to have the resources we need to survive. That's putting a lot of faith in the system, man..
 
Two thumbs up to whole foods jmdrake. When Mr. Mackey first made his letter known I supported it as I do now.

Most anything grown before 1920 was organic... So I guess our Founding Fathers were hippies, too? I mean, they did grow hemp after all. I guess they were bigger hippies than most hippies.
 
Most hippies I know are cool, don't know what the fuck y'all are talking about. Most are libertarians.
 
If I want really good meat, I love Whole Foods. I wish I could afford to shop there more, they are just too damn expensive.
 
I do not by organic. I do not buy from local farmers.

I can say with certainty that if you ever go to a farm to get eggs. If you ever do a side by side comparison of true organic milk vs regular milk. If you ever get a free-range chicken freshly killed...

My God is it soooooo good! There really is no comparison...

p.s. Relatives from Europe who owned small farms... :) It was SOOOOOO good!
Fresh bread, milk (straight from the cow), pig, chicken, potatoes, .....there is no comparison

Indeed, I had a great time handing out ron paul fliers in the parking lots of various concerts attended by lots of hippies. Most already knew about him and liked him.....except that he was a republican....:mad:

i dunno. they've got these great vegan chocolate chip cookies, they're massive. Many an evening, me and the girl go down, get two or three of 'em, some milk, etc. and play on their little playscape (on the roof). On the nights that they have bands on the patio we sit by their little fountain/stream, toss in rocks and listen to free music (some good, some great, some not worth mentioning).

I have no complaints.

(they also sell my preferred brand of raw honey.)
 
WTF? This thread started as a write up to support Mr. Mackey, of whole foods, health care alternative (which echoes Dr. Pauls) and has devolved into organic vs. who the f*ck cares? Sometimes I wonder.:rolleyes:

Yep, a movement that is about being conscientious about not polluting the air, soil and water, becoming immensely popular & profitable w/out nearly the level of subsidies being doled out to chem-farms, proving that in a free-market system the market would favor conscientious businesses greater than polluters, thus putting a huge hole in the socialists' argument that, if not for massive government/bureaucratic regulations, corporations would run completely rampant and destroy the earth.

Sounds like bullshit to me :rolleyes:

Well if it had never "devolved" then it would have probably dropped off of the front page and not gotten nearly the amount of attention that it has.

He is a patriot that as brought a free market solution to an enormous problem, and that is GMO toxic crap being forced on us by monsanto, and their government subsidies.

I buy there as much as possible, because the GMO wreaks havoc on my digestive sysytem, causing major immune system problems. Plus, there is absolutely no comparison in taste. Organic is delicious.

Perhaps some of you monsanto lovers of GMO toxicity will have to learn the hard way. By the way, the establishment democrats and repubs would love nothing more than for whole foods to just go away. Why do you think they are trying to pass all of these bills to shut down the small farmer, who grows real food?

That is kinda my point. The attention should have been on a very good plan by Mr. Mackey that I have used to great advantage in combating both the Democans and Republicrats. However, I see your point also.
 
I personally love Whole Foods. The few things I buy there are less expensive than any alternatives (primarily nuts and their store brands of tea, chocolate, nut butters, etc). I don't do all my grocery shopping there, so perhaps it's expensive to stay exclusive to them, but it's been saving me money for a while now. Then again, I'm talking NYC prices here.

And I was glad to learn that the founder and CEO is a libertarian businessman. It made me feel less uncomfortable about shopping in a store touting organic products everywhere, which suggest I might be a hippie!

I was speaking metaphorically. I realize they are just misinformed. That's why this is an information war. I think we (and I'm including myself) waste so much time arguing with each other over petty stuff when we all basically agree with the same agenda. It's sort of like preaching to the choir. (Another bad metaphor I'm sure).
