Why such little support for Whole Foods?

Sounds wonderful! Did you make a sauce for it? Olive oil? Marinara? Cream? Etc.?

Well, one of my mainstays, especially in summer is pasta primavera--so I do it differently every time based on whatever I have.

This time, after sauteeing the vegetables in olive oil, onion and garlic, I put in chicken broth and let it cook for a bit in that. I had some tomato-herb soup left in the fridge, so I put a little of that in as well, and added just a splash of half and half, then some romano cheese, which made it thicken up nicely. Right before serving I added a whole mess of fresh julienned basil.

Turned out great!

Dannno, I think he's just trying to rile you up. Anyone with a bit of common sense knows that it's better to eat fruits and vegetables without pesticides. Anything that kills bugs and bacteria will also likely be detrimental to us as well.

Hormones injected or fed to livestock will have some effect on us because we're very sensitive to such chemicals. Are we entirely sure what the effects are? No. But they certainly aren't tested over thousands of years like natural foods are.

I made a really awesome tortellini dish using homegrown organic broccoli, garlic, onions, green beans, tomatoes and basil tonight. It was fantastic, healthy and cost me almost nothing to make.

Yes , and thousands of years ago , when people ate nothing but organic, there was still cancer, and the average life expectancy of humans was MUCH shorter. Hmmmm, how could that be?

We're all gonna die sweetheart, and 99.9% of the time it's not gonna be from something you ate. ( unless it's Dannno's cow shit) Might as well enjoy life.

We didn't have modern medicine, my little muffin. Not to mention that we lived in much more brutal times. Plus, I'm not even saying or implying that organic foods will necessarily lengthen your life span, but I'm quite sure that there is very little chance it will shorten it, whereas there is a chance that pesticides can. You may or may not be familiar with DDT, and if you are, I challenge you to use it as a dressing on your salad.

If you choose to eat pesticides, that's your choice. I don't know why you're so hung up on trying to get others to join you.

and if you think organic farmers use no pesticides , I have a bridge to sell you.

If pesticides were outlawed , pests would ruin massive amounts of crop ...and if only organic faming took place, there would be less crop in GENERAL, because organic farming can't produce as much crop. Starvation would become a worldwide epidemic. Only the rich would be able to afford what's left. So, you'd be willing to starve out much of the planet for the sake of a health benefit to YOURSELF that hasn't even been proven to exist in any study yet ? That's not a very Libertarian outlook on life ,IMO.

I'm aware that there are alternative pesticides.

And where did I ever promote the outlaw of pesticides? Where did I ever promote any attempt to outlaw regular farms? You seriously have issues with attempting to show that you know what I think, because you're completely off-base.

Your comment that I'd be willing to starve out the planet for the sake of a health benefit to myself (hey wait, I thought organic didn't have any health benefits?) is absolutely ludicrous and illogical to conclude because I prefer to grow my own vegetables organically, prefer some free range protein sources and want to minimize the pesticides that I consume.

Seriously, you accuse me of being anti-libertarian because I make a choice for myself and defend it? I'll apologize if you can point out just one instance where I ever suggested taking away that choice from other people.

Go ahead, comb my posts. If you can't find anything, I hope you're man enough to admit it and apologize for a dumb accusation.

I live in Austin and went by there flagship store below there coporate HQ in downtown, partly out of curiosity after hearing his comments. It was the busiest I've seen it so there boycott isn't going to do crap in my opinion.

I just got back and business was pretty good in Franklin, Tn. No different than the last time I was there.
San Francisco may be another matter.
