Why is Reagan treated like a god-like figure?

He was a bad president, he dealt drugs to finance illegal foreign military manipulations. I personally think George HW bush has been running this country since 1980, though.

Let's consider the other recent Republican presidents & presidential nominees:

George W. Bush
Bob Dole
George H.W. Bush
Gerald Ford
Richard Nixon

No wonder Republicans practically worship Ronald Reagan.

The corresponding figure among Democrats was John F. Kennedy. Even today Obama is being compared to Kennedy.

Reagan and all the Republicans nominated since 1964 make this montley crew look like a god.

John F'n Kerry
Algore
William Jefferson
Michelle Dukaki
Walter Mondale
James Earl 'Jimbo' Carter
Jorge McGovern
HHH
LBJ

All little more than national jokes.

Even as a leftist, I recognize the fact that he was a good president, but why all the leg humping by the candidates and media? Why is being Reagan-esque the litmus test?

Why isn't there a progressive idol that the Democrats worship? Why aren't the Democrats held to a similar litmus test for their progressivism?

'Cause he was such a good little lap dog for ex-CIA chief George Bush Sr., they like to stroke his memory and everyone else just follows along.

Paul could of also pointed out the Reagan supported 'Peace through Strength', not 'Peace through War'.

Why is Reagan treated like a god-like figure?

Reagan was President in name only. Bush Sr. took over 69 days into Reagan's faux presidency.

On March 30, 1981, only 69 days into the new administration, Reagan, was struck by gunfire from a deranged would-be assassin, John Hinckley, Jr. Missing Reagan’s heart by less than one inch.

How many people are aware that the Hinckley's and the Bushes were friends and past business partners? Scott Hinkley was even scheduled to attend a dinner party at the the home of Neil Bush the day after the Reagan shooting. And the "coincidences" get even stranger: http://killtown.911review.org/assassinations/reagan.html

To make a long story short: Reagan's policies were Bush Sr's policies.
