"What an arrogant backstabbing attention whoring jackass."
Takes one to know one doesn't it?
"I mean look around... Rand is inspiring zero support. Where are all the sign waves? The paul bots? The internet spammers? Where is the youth? The college kids passing out slim jims? There is none because Rand doesn't represent anything."
I understand these things alone don't win elections but it's also true that candidates who lack such spontaneous support aren't winning anything either (See any Gilmore sign wavers out there lately?) It's also a testament to the fact there's no spontaneous support for Rand as their was for Ron. Yes, Trump has sucked up all the media oxygen and yes Bernie Sanders has that youthful energy on campus. But doesn't that also point out the lack of energy on Rand's part? Hmmm? Rand can't even bring himself to have a cup of coffee with Peter Thiel for crying out loud! No energy from candidate, none from the grassroots supporters, it's that simple. And having been told on any number of occasions that any such political activity outside the "official" campaign is not welcomed, well then who's going to waste their time or money? If you really want to be active, donate to Frazee's group PAC because they at least wish to "do something" with their money instead of just saying "Wait for the debates" and collecting paychecks.
Okay fine, we'll wait for the first debate. And maybe Rand will shine, stand up to Trump, energize everyone all over again, recapture the magic of '07. It's entirely possible. But if he doesn't, then it's pretty much over. You say you have the campaign machinery in Iowa and new Hampshire already working, ready to get into high gear. That's great! But just remember this: These aren't actual machines. They're human beings and they made decide that if Rand's fading away they're not going to put forth the effort that he's refusing to put forth for himself. People can be fickle that way. In my judgement Rand's free-fall in the polls has stopped but only a great performance in the debate will make it grow again. Otherwise everything will just peter out throughout the fall.
So I guess everything hinges on Aug. 6 and it should have never have come to this. The fate of whole movement rests on one debate and one person's willingness either to engage in this election, that's where the Revolution finds itself. I'm pissed at Rand too for his hedging and compromising but I'm also well aware he's better than all these arse-clowns put together, because he represents something bigger than himself. But for once he has to understand this! It's not about his existential crisis or his distaste for politics. It's about something he inherited, something which made him what he is now and that he does something with it or gives it off to someone else if he can't handle it.
What's the old saying: "If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen." Yeah Rand, that's where it's at Aug. 1, 2015. What's your decision?
