Why I just switched my vote to Baldwin.

Why I have switched my vote to Baldwin only requires a simple answer: He is the closest candidate to Ron Paul's platform and the only one talking about destroying the New World Order.

I was planning on supporting Bob Barr. Then I switched my support to Ralph Nader because of Ron Pauls unity speech. And again I switched my vote to a write in candidate called David Jon Sponhiem.

Now I realize that the only candidate who really is in touch with the real threats to national soveriegnty (North American Union, United Nations, International Criminal Court, World Bank, etc.) is Chuck Baldwin.

While I disagree with select positions Baldwin and his running mate Castle have taken, I have to concede that he has the big picture in view. Libertarian issues I support such as gay marriage, keeping religion out of politics, decriminalization of currently illegal drugs, decriminalization of prostitution pale in comparison to much more impending issues that the Baldwin ticket offers genuine solutions to (Such as a distinct plan to close our borders, an immediate plan to bring U.S. troops home from overseas, and a repeal of unconstitutional trade agreements like NAFTA.)

I urge other Libertarians to take a second look at the Baldwin/Castle ticket as I have and reflect on whether the current candidate they support has the really pressing issues in view. I feel that Chuck Baldwin has met the character and credibility evaluation standards we all embrace out of a United States Presidential contender. The fact that Ron Paul supports his candidacy is just another reason to reconsider voting for somebody other than the Baldwin/Castle Constitution Party ticket.

I agree with your analysis. I was headed toward Nader or McKinney but decided that Baldwin was best on the urgent issues. Plus RP's endorsement.

I'm still torn between Baldwin and Nader. In PA Baldwin will be a write in. I'm afraid they won't count.

I hate what Barr did to RP and I am not sending him another penny...however I don't think I should punish whoever the LP nominee is in 2012...I think the LP has learned their lesson and the next nominee will be a pure libertarian...if the LP gets 2% of the popular vote it will get them automatic ballot access in several states for the 2012 election and save them over $250,000...so by voting for Barr I will be helping the 2012 nominee.

Your thoughts?

It would be good to get your third party vote counted, regardless who it is cast for.

If you could go between Nader and those two, maybe you don't really care about liberty compared to how you care about just "getting back at the establishment." I would vote Barr or Baldwin... but Nader... the biggest supporter of universal healthcare? I'm failing to see why a libertarian would support him. I mean, unless you aren't a libertarian... that's fine... I guess...

You sound like a very smart and rational person. Any vote for someone besides McCain and Obama is a plus.

Please just vote for someone other than Obama or McCain.

Every third-party vote is a good vote this year.

One day, when one or more of the third parties becomes a "major" party, then we can fight over which of their candidates is best.

Right now, they're ALL best.

hahahahaha Its funny how nobody on here ever says that their going to support Cynthia McKinney and Rosa Clemente (Green Party Nominees). They must be really too far left for Ron Paul Republicans and Libertarians.

Kathy the write ins for Baldwin are legal and registered they will be counted but you need to decide who to vote for that is what America is supposed to be about freedom of choice

Oh I will definately vote, I just wasn't sure with Baldwin being a write-in only with the electronic machines if it would actually count.

No Way. Writing in Ron Paul is not what Ron Paul wants. He wants us to vote 3rd party to show unity in the movement and to protest the Republicans and Democrats

actually in some states people are avoiding the machines

in a lot of states people are avoiding the machines and doing the absentee's..something like a 1/3 of voters this year will have voted in a couple of weeks.
