Explaining Why Christians Should Vote for Ron Paul
by Kristi Dunn on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 8:33pm

I know many of you have made up your minds to vote for one candidate or another, and this is a passionate issue, so please do not take offense that I tagged you. However, I wanted to explain a few points for why I as a Christian studied and support Ron Paul. Most of you know that I am a free thinker, well informed and politically savvy. I wanted to take a moment and explain my view. If you have questions or would rather this not be tagged for all to see, please by all means, untag yourself. I just did not want to let the Florida Primary pass without sharing this. I know I tagged several of you who are not Christians, by your own admission. I tagged you anyway, because I believe that because of your influence on others you might be asked this as well... :)

Why to Vote for Ron Paul, this is my answer to Christians:

My number one reason to vote for Ron Paul is that I can trust him. I have worked and voted for many candidates... but I would say that many are not trust-worthy and I truly believe that cycle MUST end.

The Bible describes what we should expect from a Christian leader. (According to these scriptures: 1 Timothy 3:1-13, 2 Timothy 2:1-13, Titus 1:5-9, Acts 6:1-6, and Exodus 18:21-22), here is the mark of a leader:

Mark #1: An Example for Others

Mark #2: Full of Wisdom

Mark #3 Unwavering Conviction

Mark #4: Moral Excellence

Mark #5: The Heart of a Servant

Mark #6: Good Reputation

Mark #7: Self-Control

Mark #8: The Pursuit of Excellence

Mark #9: Endurance or Perseverance and Patience

Mark #10: Courageous

Mark #11: Faithfulness

Mark #12: Humbleness

Mark #13: Accountability

Mark #14: The Wisdom to Deal With Failure

Although humans are obviously not perfect, Biblically we are still called to be discerning. You can clearly discern how a person believes, by their fruit, according to Mathew 7:16. At some point, their life should CONSISTENTLY embodied the things listed above. You should be able to clearly see what their Faith is, because it is lived out in their DAILY lives, consistently.

This means that it is not about forgiveness nor is it about judging. Rather, it is about both discernment and trust. We all know that trust is not based on words or eloquence or debate skills or presentation, but, on actual action. Of course in politics, “action” means voting records and public statements are the gauge for where these men truly stand, not what they say in the “hot seat” on the debate stage.

Many of the candidates, have many, many things to answer for, in the last year or two. That is too recent and I have a problem believing that there is real change there. In fact, I do not know that they would have ever changed their views, were they not NOW on a national stage.

I trust what your actions are, your voting record, tells me a lot more than your words... Many of the people in the race do a good job of sounding good, but I do not see fruit, not of consistent conservatism, and certainly not of Biblical Leadership.

Now, you may not agree with Dr. Paul, but his character is not in question, not in any true way. He does not attempt to explain away his past or his record. Nor does he try to convince you that he is a man of Faith, morality or conviction, he JUST IS.

Now again, of course no one is perfect, but going year by year, his life and his message is the most consistent. I do not think anyone can objectively argue with that.

Therefore, in my opinion Ron Paul has the most trust worthy record and life. Because I believed that, I dug a little deeper.

So here are my other reasons to Vote for Ron Paul:

1.) Ron Paul is a Christian and while he does not attempt to build his platform on a Faith basis, he takes his oath of marriage, office and the Constitution seriously. He has been married for 54 years, returns portion of congressional budget that he does not spend; He is a Man of Faith – accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior.

2.) He’s NEVER voted for a tax increase. He’s NEVER voted for an unbalance budget, he’s NEVER voted for gun control, and has NEVER voted to increase the debt ceiling. He was against TARP/ALL Stimulus & Bailouts, NDAA, Patriot ACT, Medicare Part D and No Child Left Behind.

3.) As I covered earlier, I wanted to say again, that besides his voting record, I also admire Ron Paul for the fact that he lives by his faith and principles.

I hope that is helpful. :)

I got permission directly from my friend to post this on RPF, I think its classy and good to share around with other voters who are on the fence or don't know what to think about Ron Paul as a christian.

Dr. Paul does not "pour his Christianity in from the top." He lives it out in that he is faithful in his marriage. He lives it out in that he and his wife have been fruitful, with children and grand children. He lives it out in that he has chosen a profession in which he has honored both the child and the mother and has where possible sustained with this skills the lives of both. He lives it out in that he honors contracts, be it the contract among states which we call the Constitution or one articulating an agreement between two individuals and their property. He lives it out in that he applies the Christian Just War Theory, along with the Constitution, to previously waged, currently being waged and wars which might be waged in the future. He lives it out in that he denounces the debasing of the currency, outlined as an evil in the Bible. He lives it out in that he champions the Christian understanding of subsidiarity in a given social order. He does not have to thump a Bible. He does not have to make shallow religious statements like Bill Clinton or George W. Bush. He does not have to make silly theological pronouncements like Pat Robertson. He simply exudes the Faith in living his daily life with his family, in the practice of medicine and in his willingness to walk the gauntlet of the political world.

Vic Lockman, a former Disney cartoonist with economic and biblical insight, has given his permission to put his 1969 booklet The Official Counterfeiter on line.* Although it is dated, I think you will find all the essential facts still very relevant to today.* With evangelical voters exerting a major influence on Republican presidential politics, Mr. Lockman’s work can go a long way towards educating us about a very fundamental, but (before Ron Paul) misunderstood and unnoticed issue.

This unique work makes a major contribution to making sound, biblical economics comprehensible to a non-technical audience. It is a great tool for learning to discern what “just weights and balances” are in the modern world (Lev. 19:36; Proverbs 11:1, 16:11; Ezek. 45:10).* This is a crash course in economics for everyone.* We do well to understand how the world really works so we can make biblically and economically informed decisions in casting our votes for national leaders.

End the FED Cartoonist Worked on Scrooge McDuck Comics!?

From Gary North, "Ben Bernanke:The Official Counterfeiter":

" Back in 1969, a Disney cartoonist sat down at his story board and produced a booklet that the Disney organization never saw: The Official Counterfeiter. It was a presentation of fractional reserve banking and the role of the Federal Reserve System.

His name was Vic Lockman. As far as I know, he was the first cartoonist ever to do a booklet based on the Austrian theory of the business cycle. He revised the booklet in 1974. It is now back online.

It is a shame that he did not do a version of this booklet for one of the Scrooge McDuck comic books. He wrote stories for Uncle Scrooge."

Really good summary CaptainAmerica. Being a born again Christian myself, the best and most effective thing about Paul, in my experiences with other believers, is to mention how Pro-Life he is, that he has attempted 2 times to effectively overturn Roe v Wade legislatively and the same bills would have defined life as starting at conception. Abortion is my number one issue and it is to many conservative Christians and, as I've found out, most don't have a clue that he is the most Pro-Life congressman, possibly in history.

i think all religions or atheists should vote for Ron Paul..

im worried about a theocracy that might evolve from tyranny. people came to the USA to practice their own religion in private without being hassled by authorities.

which leads me to... why do people care what the president believes in? i dont care if the president believes in flying, magical, holy ponies that poop rainbows.. as long as he doesn't make others believe what he believes in or make laws that punish or benefit a religion. i was kinda iffy in supporting Ron Paul because he believed in creationism.... but the way Ron Paul sets up small government and minimal involvement, i have no worries about it. ^^

Everybody cares about the morality that a particular faith will produce one way or the other. No offense, but just like you not feeling right voting for a creationist, I would have the same reservations that wasn't a creationist.
