Why are we running negative ads against Santorum in Michigan?

Actually I think we are helped by Romney winning MI as if Santorum wins Michigan everyone will say its game over, Santorum wins the nomination. Whereas we know that Romney doesn't get a "game over" by winning MI as he is expected to win it.

We need to beat Santorum back so we can have a chance to continue our strategy.

I would rather people say Santorum be the winner the press say its over. Because the more Santorum talks the more people hate him which is good for Paul. Since people will then hate Mitt and Santorum they will look to Paul.

Conservatives need to be made aware of how fraudulent Rick really is, so I endorse this effort. With all of the Mich campaign stops coming this weekend for Paul, this added bonus ad against Rick should mesh well with the headline generators that these upcoming appearances should produce, just in time for the primary.

delegates are awarded proprtionally so i dont think Ron wants to completely ignore michigan. He probably wants to make sure he gets at least a third, ahead of gingrich. the most likely outcome is probably like 35% santorum, 30% romney, 25% ron (i hope we break 20%), and 10% newt. probably something of that nature. Arizona is a lost cause. Main forcus is WA and ID.

Gotta love that ad though. Same style as the "big dog" ad. It will be very effective.

Ditto. I like the ad.

Is anyone going to address those of us IN Michigan that outright have stated there have been no ads here or just keep arguing about the campaign being ineffective with no proof that the campaign will use the ads here.

Well, no need for anyone to complain about spending too much money.

Just revealed the ad only cost 50k and was just run on some cable stations. It did what it was supposed to do... It's made the drudge report and various other news organizations and there is a very good chance this ad (or its content) will come up and set a talking point for tomorrow's debate. For 50k...I think this was money well spent.

Inexpensive ad and inexpensive publicity. Sounds like a great idea to me.

Delegates are not proportional in Michigan. They are winner take all by congressional district, with 2 extra going to the winner or split between the top two if its close.

I don't know an area of Michigan where Ron's ideas don't resonate - its just the popular perception of him being inconsequential that prevents the people from really supporting him. Hopefully Amash's district is smart enough. Hopefully Dearborn is, too. And hopefully every city recognizes that Ron is the only one that can save Michigan's economy by reducing the leaching of the federal govt. and hopefully all the "cold dead hand" rural areas recognize that Ron is the only one that's going to let them keep their guns and land.

Santorum is currently polling higher than Romney in Washington. If the ads damaged Santorum enough for Romney to win Michigan, it should bring Santorum down closer to Romney in Washington so that Ron has the chance to blow by both of them. If Santorum wins Michigan, then his momentum will allow him to take Washington away from us as well, not good.

Screw politico. The whole nation is aware of Romney's record and his flip flops. Ron Paul would be wasting ad money directly attacking Romney at this point. It would be like preaching to the choir.

The ads against Santorum are needed to crush the illusion of his "so called" conservatism. Good play IMO.

Screw politico.

Telling the truth is not negative!!!

There's probably some truth to it. There is definitely a deal behind Ron Paul and Romney.

Many people don't like it, but Paul will probably not be the nominee. Getting us into a position within the establishment is honestly pretty good for us for the long-term.

proportional by district is the point, and in the districts Ron could win, his main competition is Santorum. they are conservative districts.

Would be amazingly awesome to get our first win in WA just before Super Tuesday.

nice ad, hope it reins in Santorum a bit, he is running away with his fake conservative positions.
and i hope when in a debate or interview Dr.Paul is asked about "negative" ads, he should say that they are not negative but "Truth" ads.
i think he did that before too.

There's no explaining it. People made up their minds about it, and it can only take family or friends to break down the myth that Ron is not anti-Israel or that he's weak on natl defense. At this point, people are blocking out anything on foreign policy that doesn't come out of debates or from their family and friends.

B.S. Mass media ads on every issue account for popularity swings in voting states. Paul's own campaign says this, as well.
