my state doesn't allow write in votes for sore losers. I will vote because not voting means you don't count. So I will vote for johnson even though he isn't Paul. He is still 100 times better than Romney or Obama.

State law for missouri. (sore loser law)

If a candidate runs in a primary election and loses, can the person run in the general election for the same office?

No. If a candidate files for nomination to an office and is not nominated at a primary election, that candidate cannot file a declaration of intent to be a write-in candidate for the same office at the general election. (Section 115.453(4) RSMo)

Then you are guaranteed to not count.

Voting does not hurt, it may not help, but it does not hurt.

Yes it does.

It gives your tacit approval to this murderous system all around us.

Last week I would have said NOBP.

After this week, I dunno, I might write in Vermin Supreme.

But I'll probably stay home and spend time with the family.

I want to vote for Ron Paul. That way I have something to tell my grandchildren.

Hopefully you already have? You voted for him when it counted most. I agree with mini-me that protest votes are best spent where they actually are heard or at least counted. Write-ins are generally a waste of time. I already voted for Ron Paul and will be able to tell my kids that. I am between voting for Johnson or not voting as far as November is concerned. I don't think PA allows write-ins anyway.

The thing about polls like this, is say 1200 members are here in a day, and 100 vote......and it isn't random but self selected not to vote, it isn't representative.

I think you should add "undecided" - that's the only thing I would be able to check at this point.

I likely won't vote. Voting is giving my consent to the system. I don't give consent.

Election is too long way away, got to see who emerges as the best 3rd party candidate.

Majority of voters in America are now Independent leaning over the broken 2 party charade.

I've thought about this quite a bit, and we have to support Gary Johnson.

I wasn't a huge fan of the guy when he was attacking Ron Paul at the start of the race, but if you stop and think about it, he is the best hope for peace and freedom in 2012.

No one mistakenly thinks he is a racist or a homophobe.
He is has an incredibly impressive record as governor.
He has a lot of appeal to independents and democrats.
He draws a stark contrast to Obama and Romney.
If we can get this guy on the debate stage, he can win. The time is perfect. I have no doubt in my mind.

While the third parties remain fringe elements within the two major parties, the time is perfect for third parties to unite in order to make real change.

The vast majority of the American people agree with these issues, yet the majority of politicians do not. We deserve a candidate who represents the values of the American people.
The Commission on Presidential debates keeps all of the third party candidates off the stage. Call them and demand that our voice is heard! We deserve a REAL choice in 2012.

Here is a video explaining why third parties aren’t allowed on the debate stage:

Writing in Paul is stupid. He has 0 chance of winning. You might as well not vote.

My rational side agrees with this...not the part about winning all of a sudden after a 1% showing or so last cycle, but at least the part about making a bigger impact. I would certainly poll in his favor to help get him in the debates. Gary narrowly passes my litmus test, and voting for him would definitely be more productive in the practical sense of adding one to the LP's numbers, but my selfish and emotional side wants to write in Ron Paul just to be belligerent and more strictly libertarian and to remember voting for Paul one last time. We're still debating with ourselves. ;)

You write in people remember.Gary Johnson won't win.So any reservations about not voting for him for this or for that won't matter.

To me its about having a recorded vote count. The GOP treated Ron Paul and all of us like trash and we need to let them know how many votes they lost.

same thing is accomplished with johnson, and the odds of winning are about a million times better.

There are things that I like and dislike about Gary Johnson. I will admit aside from Paul he would be my second choice to vote for. Though this is about principal now.

As mentioned earlier by someone we need to cast as many votes for Ron Paul. We need to show the establishment what kind of party we want and that we are out here in numbers and growing every day.

Some people say Ron has 0 chance of winning at that point well, neither does Gary...

We need to finish what we started!
