Who hired this 'Nevada GOP Political Director' from Utah?

Wimmer is a really good guy. He narrowly lost a primary but I sense the mid 30s guy has a great political future.

It makes sense to unify behind Romney if you are the GOP. He has won the required amount of delegates, and has practically been the nominee for months. Nobody within the GOP, nor do 80% of the voters, cares about Ron Paul or his supporters at this point.

I fully support people like Rand and Carl to support Romney. It makes them mainstream and acceptable. It would be a different story if Ron Paul had a chance in hades.

This is a joke right? I won't vote for Romney, get behind him? You're nuts. Why does everyone think we have to make nice with Romney? He's a joke, he will lose to Obama, and no one will even remember his name a month later, Ron may not win, but that doesn't mean we have to dirty ourselves by "teaming up" with Romney.

The problem is, if you infiltrate the GOP, you have to support it or you won't last in it. A delima, no?

that the whole point of taking it over, once you elected in there as PCO or whatever, no one can do a whole lot about it can they, you not there to mess around, you got your Republic to defend.

Yes, that is the point. But the GOP offices are expected to support the GOP. It's fine if you have plenty of "Liberty Candidates", but if not, you have to support the "ticket" or you won't last. Why do you think "Shadow" parties were created in places? "If" Romney becomes the nominee and you hold a chair position are you going to support him?

I like how they think that because a RP-friendly(ish) guy is telling us to support Romney, they think it will make us do it. Rot in Hell GOP

Rand is Ron's son, and Ron is still in the race. This guy, is to wonder.

I don't have a problem with anything the guy did or said. Just cuz he says the things the GOP regulars want to hear doesn't mean any of us are gonna follow up behind, he knows that as well as all of us. Too many rp supporters just want to handout ammo to the GOP to use against us and our delegates.

Soft support will follow and it kinda hurts the "unity behind Ron Paul" message for delegates on the fence.

Soft support were never our delegates in the first place.

But we need more delegates. On other threads, we're talking about getting more delegates through communication, like Santorum and Newt delegates, etc..
And yes, we also have some soft delegates in that they were not hard core RPF and DP 'ers, but liked Ron's message once they heard.
But now, openly supporting Mitt for the sake of position in the GOP will sway those and they will think that Ron is Out For Sure now, get behind the train.
What happened to "In It To Win It" "All the Way to Tampa"? Are we there yet, daddy?

None of that is this guys job. He is saying what needs to be said to do his job and make sure the soft GOP'ers don't flee the party, the very party we are now in charge of running. Doesn't make much sense to go out of your way to drive the flock away after you've just become the shepherd.

Romney's father didn't SUPPORT Goldwater in 64...

"Certainly Carl is more conservative than Romney, so he will be in a position where he will be able to bring in some of the Paul supporters to support Mitt."

So where will the "flock" be led?

Dude I've been hearing good things about Carl Wimmer since 2008. I am fairly certain he is good people.

#1, It wasn't carl that said that quote. you are gonna hold against him what some other person said?
#2, Does a strong presidential campaign help all the liberty candidates on the undercards? Yes, it does.

In before ban.

You really consider that a comparison?

Yes I do.

Why should any Republican ask a Ron Paul supporter to vote for Romney in 2012, when his own dad did not support the Republican nominee (Goldwater) in 1964 because he was to conservative for him.

Well, Mr. Romney is to MODERATE for any Ron Paul supporter to give their vote to.

Pay back is a b*tch, Mr. Romney.

There are several threads here detailing the 64 convention. You can probably find them by searching "goldwater." That article is weak compared to the threads here. There was no call for party unity by George Romney. Not at all. Those threads actually put happenings of this year in perspective to some extent.

1964 and 1976 should be very instructive. Elections were lost, but a stronger party was built from the ashes. And all the tactics that are being espoused for Paulers were actually put into practice, or at least attempted to, for the Goldwaterites and Reaganites. The same people who criticize us now for espousing them don't seem to mind that their heroes used them back in the old days. Because they simply don't like us and don't like Ron, it colors everything else they think and do.

I'm not for supporting Romney, just the opposite.
My point is, how much support will a state chair get if he/she doesn't "IF" Romney gets the nomination?

It's like, if you want to be the new establishment, you have to take it all, or you must compromise some or loose what little you may have gained. At LEAST you will be tempted to compomise for "Unity" to hold the position. Then compomise becomes easier and easier and the next you know, you are the old establishment.

Not inevitable, but somewhat likely. If history means anything.

edit: Since We are seen as the enemy. I hope I'm completely wrong about any of this.
