While a teacher, 11th District candidate Bentivolio's behavior was a problem, records show

So all of the establishment Republicans in one of the most R-leaning districts in all of Michigan are going to vote for the Democrat because of this one report? Nice try Detroit Free Press.

Sounds like a normal teacher to me. I've had teachers do much worse and I didn't even go to school in the era where they were actually allowed to hit you.

Just get out in front of it and attack the teaching establishment for there left leanings, he'll gain votes with his GOP base.

I attended an all male Catholic hs up here and dudes were smacked and punched most days of the week and this was in '00. Ironically, the same place Thad went to school yet apparently the discipline never took hold in him. Only in a public school would students freak out if they received a strict talking-to. All schools should have a disciplinarian to keep the classrooms quiet for the obvious reason as to why students are there. Of course, mandatory attendance laws force the cretants to come in an disrupt the rest of youth society.

This is typical of High School students in public schools, I know this because I was one a few years ago. The liberal school system has made people my age feel entitled and almost above the teacher. If they don't like the teacher then they go and cry to mommy and daddy, that Mr. B yelled in class today.

these allegations definitely concern me. I want exceptional people in Office. This guy seems to have some mental issues... it makes me wonder if he has the will to represent the people of CD11 and to stand by his convictions.

Yeah, this seems like a positive, to me. If I didn't have teachers that were willing to grab my attention once in a while, I'd hate to see how I turned out. Typically, the teachers liked to talk about politics when I was in school, ESPECIALLY the liberal ones. If teachers had been let go for talking politics when I was school, there would have been no teachers. Should make him dang-near heroic in conservative circles.

As an educator, I completely agree. The leftist teachers are very open with their views. I don't mind shairng mine if the opportunity affronts itself. I always make sure to state that what I'm saying is opinion and that students need to do their own research on these issues.

From an email from Adam DeAngeli (former campaign manager of Ron Paul's in MI):

Bentivolio's teaching record was impeccable.

And it was only after he began running for office--and speaking out about school choice, equal rights for homeschoolers, and criticizing the teachers union to which he was forced to pay dues throughout his teaching career--that one lone administrator filed a complaint against him.

It was a political hit-job.
