I think California's Involuntary psychiatric hold law where a person can be taken into custody to check whether they are a danger to themselves/others is stupid because this initial 'check' can happen based on 'probable cause' a person is a danger to him/herself rather than the person actually having to have commited a crime.

So apart from the politicians from the Libertarian Party, which other current elected US politicians oppose Involuntary psychiatric hold laws?

Once upon a time this subject did receive some debate. I remember an episode of The Rockford Files--a two part episode, iirc--about how easy it is to abuse this. The title had the name of the character in it, namely T.T. Flowers. That show had its moments this way; that was one of the things that made it a standout in a forest of private detective shows. They also did a memorable episode on abuse of the grand jury system.

But, in recent years it has gotten little enough attention that I doubt many politicians have even mentioned it. Which makes it hard to categorize their positions.

what is ron paul's position on it?

(just guessing)
The Constitution. (Bill of Rights)
4th, 5th amendments are pretty clear (to my thinking)
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses,,,,,,
shall not be violated,
nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law;
