I'm not really sure what you expect people to say. Inauguration Day is Jan 20th. Trump and his transition team seem really busy. Some announcements seem pretty good. Others not so much.

Liberty is not binary, it operates on a continuum.

I would bet that liberty, on the whole, will grow during a Trump admin. I have my issues with Trump and he is far from perfect, Rand or Ron of course would be much better in regards to fighting consistently for liberty. But liberty will most certainly be at much more sustainable levels than we would have seen from a Hillary admin. And the economy will end up being a lot better off as well. We may have a crash, we may see bad times, but that is because of what has happened previously and we will all be much better off on the whole with a Trump admin.

I actually was very hesitant about even wanting to see a Romney administration, but I knew Obama would carry us much further in the opposite direction as well. I didn't see the liberty continuum as improving or being much better either way we went. This Trump phenomenon has nothing to do with two establishment puppets dueling it out, Trump may not be totally anti-establishment but on the whole he is anti-establishment and he has shown it through his cabinet picks. I expect some establishment people will be in his cabinet for strategic purposes, and I will very likely be unhappy with some of his picks.. like if he picks that Munchkin dude, which he hasn't yet, but so far, so good.

Definitely wouldn't be my first pick, he is anti-cannabis and I toke daily, for example.. so I am certainly taking a big risk here personally.. but Trump is pro-cannabis so this will have to be a wait and see issue.. but there are some good strategic reasons for picking him, so will have to wait and see what he actually does and why he picked him. I understand why securing the border is important so that our liberty doesn't continue to degrade, you can't have open immigration and a socialist system - that is just completely dooming the entire civilization.. and I am open borders (in a free market), ultimately that is a liberty issue too.. but so is voting demographics, that has a HUGE impact on all of our liberty and there are so many other issues that come attached with open immigration in a socialist economy.

heh...most, if not all, the 'loudness' came from all the rug biters, who seem to have promoted hillary in a sub-conscious sort of way...

hope this thread helps with those afflicted with rug biting syndrome...

as an aside...i'm not seeing how this thread will help with liberty down the road....

Yeah, pretty much this. It's funny however, how Clinton supporters ZippyJuan and TheCount stuck around after their heads exploded. I don't see too much of their buddy Sam I Am. Not sure if O'Reich stills posts on his rabid defense of Israel.

Yeah, I've been thinking about creating a report card for his picks. Some have been ok and others have been horrible. But on the whole, we are looking at bigger government and less liberty any which way you cut it.

Sessions for AG? Horrible. Pence for VP? Come on... Mnuchin? Pompeo?! Seriously? If Romney had picked these folks you would have been jumping out of your skin about the picks!

Probably helps about as much as the innumerable threads about Trump cascading one after tbe other for months on end. By the way, did you know Trumps butler thinks he's a good guy? There is a thread here about it.

Incrementally and long term spending is the real tax. The tax and health care changes however will provide significantly more relief and more immediate relief, by 2018 at least.
