Its purpose is to make people think that Ron Paul has a specific motive for running. IE he wants a speech at the convention, or he's working for the advancement of his son's political career or he's in it to help Romney.

Anything but he's in it to win it or in it to promote the principle of liberty.

Do you know the definition of the word propagated? The Paul campaign has not propagated this lie at all, in fact they have disputed it when giving the opportunity.
