What should we name the PAC?

malkusm,

If you want this group to be successful, we need to remember the constituency we want to resonate with. We want to ride the Tea Party waves as long as possible. In the minds of the people, the connection between our group and the Tea Party needs to be one that easily made. I would suggest the name be something very Tea Party-esk as others have suggested.

I'm not malksum, but I agree 100%.

What is the main goal of the PAC? The mission statement?

Ultimately, the mission is simply to get liberty-oriented candidates elected to state legislatures across the country. I think that we might particularly have a slant towards state sovereignty, 10th amendment, nullification issues that would separate us a bit from your typical "Tea Party" organization. Perhaps some sort of pledge would be in order for the candidates to agree to in order to earn our endorsement - this would influence candidates that we consider to be "borderline" or more traditionally conservative.

short simple and easy to remember and associate with

Nice. Thanks. Maybe we could send potential candidates a questionnaire to fill-out and pre-qualify them before they receive funds as well.

Hmm.

Funk it. Let's name it Sam Adams PAC. If we get sued, we get more attention, more donations. General liability insurance is cheap.

I'm pretty sure Sam Adams Alliance (who are good people) will also file against you. And all it takes is a cease and desist, which is pretty easy to file, to effectively shut you down. It would NOT help fundraising.

Has a nice ring too it.

Thanks! I figured "Gadsden State" speaks to both the new Tea Parties AND our own original RP08/Tea Party. LoonyLibs won't really have a clue what it is, but pretty much everyone we are targeting (both donors and candidates) will.

Should I make a poll with the prominent choices in here? I think we have:

Gadsden State PAC
Irate Minority PAC (IMPAC)
Midnight Riders PAC
Rightful Remedy PAC
Statesman PAC
Return to Prosperity PAC
Tea Party State Leaders Fund

I think you should pick your leadership team and make the decision internally.

Personally, I think that we not the minority, and thus the IMPAC name is self-defeating. ANd I like Gadsen Pac better than Gadsen State PAC.

Yeah, I like that idea. I have parts of the "leadership team" in mind but need to consult with some people. Certainly would be good to have something like that pinned down.

That crap just makes me want to never buy Sam Adams beer again  In fact, I'd want to specifically use the Samuel Adams PAC to lure them into a lawsuit and countersue them for $10M to help fund the PAC. Those buggers don't own our Founding Father!!

I'm sorry, I know it's a headache that can be avoided, but when I see crap like that now I want Boston Beer Co PUNISHED for their frelling arrogance!

Yeah!! And what's up with domestics??? Isn't Sam Adams a domestic?? So when the bars say $2 domestics, or $1 domestics, why can I not get a Sam Adams?? I like Sam Adams but what's up??? Are you a domestic or not?? Let me get $2 domestics!!!

I agree with this.

I think you should choose the best people, name it whatever works for you and then have Liberty Forest members decide on their own to donate to it and promote it.
