What Senator reflects your values better than Rand Paul?

No one represents my value in the Senate more than Rand..hence why the Senate sucks. I still won't vote for Rand or donate money to him to be President, and once we have a few more libertarians up there, I'd support running him out of the Senate as well. The fact he happens to be the most libertarian Senator doesn't mean he's special...he still needs to be held to account. Run someone else for President in 2016...or face a shattered movement.

Would Rand have been Senator if it wasn't for the Ron Paul 2008 campaign?

I don't know. I think possibly he could have, just because 2010 was a big tea party/anti establishment year. Well I was personally still more of a mainstream Republican at the time and a casual RP supporter (voted for Ron, but was still figuring things out). I remember I first took notice of Rand because I liked Ron from 2008, but it was the tea party association at the time that held my interest. So if it weren't for Ron having ever campaigned, I think I still would have probably become a supporter anyway. But then that goes back to the question, if it weren't for Ron in the first place, would the tea party still have happened?

What do you mean, OR? You're looking for a martyr.

I'm more upset him selling his father out. I don't care who i think is going to win i would never sell my father out. If his willing to sell his father out what else is for sale?

Did you happen to overhear Ron saying this? How do you know the two of them didn't get together and decide this strategy?

You don't, and maybe you never will, you're just swinging at air.

It wouldn't have been a Randslide, but yes he could have won without RP2008. It's been mentioned here before that the Kentucky Tea Parties in 2010 were not traceable to the Ron Paul Revolution in an obvious way.

Please explain the evil?

See, I can understand not compromising with evil on evil principles... like when the Republicans and Democrats come together and agree on indefinite detention, or things like that. But how is Rand evil? Ron isn't against the idea of compromise, but is concerned with aiming to compromise over the right issues/principles. There's a difference.

And nothing of value was lost.

The "I stand with Rand" slogan alone should win over the majority of Fox News zombies in 2016.. This may be our best chance ever to get a liberty minded individual in the White House.. Don't piss it away now.

I don't like what Rand did, and judging by his tone, neither does he. But all the poo-poo'ers need to look at how he votes. That's all that really matters.

Don't bother. Some folks would rather we split our firepower between the Constitution/Libertarian/Marijuana/Reform Parties and only get 2.1% combined in the Presidential elections forever. That's a better way of cutting spending and ending overseas policing.

no one close to Rand.

2nd best; Mike Lee
OK: DeMint and a few other tea party Senators
best democrat; Ron Wyden

I think the order is,

1) Rand Paul
2) Mike Lee
3) Jim Demint

It drops off pretty fast after that.

I would add 4) Tom Coburn, because of his understanding for the need of seriously cutting spending and that means PENTAGON/military as well as domestic and entitlements. It seems as tho some of us that can't see the liberty forest for the trees, calling Rand names because of the Romney endorsement or because he voted on one or two things they don't like, need to understand that we MUST find allies when and where we can. Hell, ONLY 6 Republicans, 6 Democrats & 1 Socialist independant stood WITH US and against unconstitutional indefinite detention.

"The Most Conservative GOP Senate Members Agree with Ron Paul on Indefinite Detention

Explains Townhall’s Mike Shedlock:

Any Senator voting on a bill that would allow US citizens to be arrested, detained indefinitely, even sent to Cuba without being formally charged with any crime is no friend or supporter to the US constitution…

Indeed, all 86 Senators who voted for that bill are cowards, hypocrites, and no friend to the United States or the US Constitution.

13 Courageous Votes

Nay ID Crapo, Michael [R]
Nay ID Risch, James [R]
Nay IL Durbin, Richard [D]
Nay IA Harkin, Thomas [D]
Nay KY Paul, Rand [R]
Nay MD Cardin, Benjamin [D]
Nay MN Franken, Al [D]
Nay OK Coburn, Thomas [R]
Nay OR Merkley, Jeff [D]
Nay OR Wyden, Ron [D]
Nay SC DeMint, Jim [R]
Nay UT Lee, Mike [R]
Nay VT Sanders, Bernard

There you have it. Anyone not on that list voted to trash the constitution. I am particularly pleased by the votes of Senators Jim DeMint, Thomas Coburn, Rand Paul, Mike Lee, Michael Crapo, and James Risch.

Those are the only six Republicans willing to stand behind the Constitution."
