What motivated you into Politics?

It started in during the 2002-2004 period, don't know exactly when, mostly my senior year in school though (2004). I decided that I hated Bush and had an "anybody but Bush" mentality. I figured since I was anti-Bush, anti-Iraq war, anti-constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage, etc. that I was some sort of "extreme liberal". I even tried changing some of my beliefs to fit that "liberal look". I was never a fan of all the illegal immigration but since "liberals" were open borders I had to be too. After Bush won the '04 election my political enthusiasm died down and waned for a while. Then came the semester of Fall 2007. I took a World Civilizations: Latin America class that changed it all. The course was broken into 5 parts: Background, Revolution, Reaction, U.S. Involvement in Latin America, and New World Order; in that order. This class woke me up to not only the evils of our government due to their covert operations throughout Latin America, but also the evils of our government in other ways too. This course kind of turned me into a socialist because the teacher obviously favored Che Guevara, Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez, etc. but he also woke me up to the New World Order and reading alternative news sites. From reading his most recent notes on his course page though, I have a feeling he was a Ron Paul guy because he mentioned RP in some parts of the course this past semester.
So anyways, for a while I thought I was socialist, and then somehow I came across Ron Paul. I cannot remember for the life of me how I discovered him though, but he was my second waking up; I finally realized that I was a paleoconservative/libertarian. And that is how I got into politics and why I'm running for city council next year.

Sorry for typing so much, hopefully some of you will actually read all of it.

My first taste of politics was when I was sent to Girls' State in high school. I was elected party chairman and it was then that I realized how much goes on in politics besides the personality and qualifications of the candidate.

I've always remained interested in politics but it wasn't until I read The Creature From Jekyll Island and "found" Ron Paul that I really felt it necessary to become more actively involved.

Interest in philosophy, and when one day I got this funny feeling that everything was not going to be alright. Politics is nauseating though.

I know Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh helped me get into politics, but I guess the real draw was, "What are these idiots doing with my money?" Answer: Nothing I'd approve of.
