What is your opinion of George W Bush now that he's been out of office for a few years?

Do we seriously believe that any sitting president makes their own decisions when theyre bought and paid for (controled) by everyone but themselves? The only decisions they make is what kind of underwear to put on.

Well, let's just say that I don't think that restoration of 2nd Amendment rights in a POS city I don't and won't live in ( the only relevant case for comparison ), which was a foregone conclusion anyway, is a bigger deal than the new-found ability for my local government to hide evidence that proves my innocence, keep me in prison for 18 years and solitary for 14, come close to murdering me several times, and then end up paying me less than what I would have made earning minimum wage during that time.

Like it or not, Sotomayor and Kagan haven't done that much yet that we can judge them by. In the same case (Connick) we saw what sort of complete shitbags conservative heroes like Thomas and Scalia can really be - so I'm not ruling out the possibility that Barry's picks won't turn out to be OK.

It affects every city, not just DC or Chicago.

I really like Scalia and Thomas, I agree with them on 90% or so. Now the late Chief Justice William Rehnquist? I worship him.

Obama's picks are awful liberal socialist scumbags with no regard for the Constitution. There is no constitutional right to an abortion, and there is a constitutional right to own a gun. They have an agenda and disagree. F'em.

That's it! Everything else is by others. It is amazing to me that people claim Reagan did this or that, Clinton balanced the budget, Bush's tax cuts, or Obamacare. Seriously. It is quite obvious who makes the decisions... and it is not the puppet.

The Federal Government shouldn't have any interference whatsoever in that issue, it's a state issue. And it doesn't prevent you from lobbying your legislators to have better state laws or argue for those laws. If people in the state decide to improve the laws, they can do it. Local government is better then big centralized government, don't look to Washington to solve your problems.

No to the first, but what is Obama doing different?
So you too think it was good to repeal DADT? Because, DADT left our service members prone to blackmail.

Bush would stay in Iraq and Afghan, but stay out of Libya and Africa. As for the other part, what massive government healthcare plan did Bush sign that was equal to Obamacare?
Well the medicare part-d thing is gonna cost us at least a half a trillion alone. how much has obamacare cost us so far? I'm not convinced it will ever take place due to the obvious unconstitutionality of it.

I'm a bit cynical of that. States and localities have passed voter referendums legalizing pot, but the war on drugs continues. It'll be a while before Boobus figures out that the Nanny State is not all it's cracked up to be.

The last president who had a thought of their own:

Bush was the worst president we've ever had... until Obama was elected. Then, Obama became the worst president we've ever had. And he will remain so, until the next president is elected, who will inevitably, invariably become the worst president we've ever had (unless the next president is Ron Paul, of course).

Of course I think it was a bad idea to repeal it. I'm not a libertarian, I'm a Constitution Party paleo-con.

I still say Harrison was the best! ;)

Well, that's probably because when they legalized medicinal pot, the Fed put that sick guy in jail anyway. In that decision by the way Clarence Thomas voted against the Federal Government. So yeah, people can change the laws more easily when the Feds stay out.

Reference: Gonzales v. Raich

By the way, fish, what do you think of the vote of the liberals and Scalia in that decision?

You do realize it was DADT that allowed homosexuals to join the military, right?

Don't forget Scalia and Thomas' dissenting opinion in Kelo vs. New London which justified eminent domain takeover. I'm not the biggest fan of Scalia but I've been very happy with Roberts, Thomas and Scalia on a host of decisions.

Sorry but the worst is easily Woodrow Wilson and both of the Roosevelts are up there as well.

My opinion of Bush is pretty low, but that's mostly because of all the people in his administration who were bloodthirsty, lying, thieving sociopath neocon scumsucking repulsive "people" who destroyed lives, the economy, etc. etc. My opinion of Obama is about the same.

On the bright side, I probably wouldn't have been as receptive to someone like Ron Paul if Bush hadn't been such a disaster.

Probably the only good presidents we have had were George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Andrew Jackson, Grover Cleveland, Calvin Coolidge, and kind of Eisenhower. That's really it. Reagan spoke a good game, but failed in all his promises. The only presidents in my lifetime have been Bush, Clinton, Bush, now Obama. I have never lived when we had a good president in office.

I don't really fault the men as much as the policies.
