Republican group is hoping to rally support to change the Constitution to allow President Donald Trump to seek a third term.

The "Third Term Project" presented its proposals at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in Oxon Hill, Maryland, on Thursday.

The same folks who beg and plead for term limits [to oust Tom Massie and Rand Paul] will surely be supportive of the Third Term Project.

We should be so lucky, term limits enable the bureaucracy and the cabal.

You just contradicted yourself. Do you support term limits? Or not, if Trump were given the opportunity to run again?

Term limits have no bearing one way or the other. People don't vote for what is good for the health of the country. My previous next door neighbor works at a factory that makes pins for grenades [MIC], do you think said neighbor will vote for a rep who wants to upset the factory? Get rid of Mike Kelly, he will be replaced by one like him, just like they did Boehner/Ryan.

It's the same with Trump. They don't want a Ron Paul. They voted for Trump, then again, whether he runs again or not, the people will vote for him or somebody like him. That's the stupidity of people. Term limits have no bearing one way or the other. It's more statist talk to take your eye off the ball.

It looks like you can't read either.
I said we would be lucky to end the Presidential term limit, and I condemned all term limits.

You are the one objecting to removing the Presidential limit but opposing placing one on Congress.

You don't read, or comprehend too well:

I don't care one way or the other. But the Third Term Project is a way for statists to install dictators. Just think the next time a democrat wants to run [3 terms]. Not that Trump isn't one; he supports Protectionism, Israel, blowing up Yemen, etc.

The only reason people would want a third Trump term would be because they want to make up for the four years he was out of office.

I think the constitutional amendment should be worded in such a way that only Trump could run for a third term.

If we can't limit it to Trump specifically by name, maybe we can limit it to presidents with orange skin.

Funnily enough, the Tennessee congressman that proposed amending the Constitution to allow Trump to run for a 3rd term also went on record saying that Obama wouldn't be allowed to run since both of his two terms were consecutive.

To propose:
... 2/3 of the House of Representatives
... and
... 2/3 of the Senate

To ratify:
... 38 state legislatures

There you go again, claiming not to care and then showing that you are indeed defending the POTUS term limit.

I read perfectly fine, you are deceptive but I see through it.

Or maybe he's just acknowledging the reality that a president is more likely to become a dictator than a senator.

Care to disagree with that?
I absolutely do.
The Senate has longer terms (a mistake in eth Constitution, they should have served at the pleasure of the State governments and been able to be replaced at any time), they accrue far more power than the President if they work their way up the leadership and are much harder to remove because only one state gets to vote (or cheat) for them and the leadership is chosen by the party not the voters.

McConnell has done far more evil and stopped far more good than your worst fantasies about Trump or even than Biden or O'Bummer, Schumer is even worse.

You think McConnell is more likely to become a strong man dictator than Trump? Really? You think he has the name recognition among the politically ignorant? You think he has the charisma?

That's funny. Hilarious, even.

I'm telling you he is already one, he just doesn't flaunt it so ignorant people like you will believe he isn't.
He doesn't need popularity, he's got his home state fraud machine and the Establishment GOP machine to keep him in office and in leadership.
He's retiring soon, but his replacement will be the same unless Trump destroys their machines and stolen power.

I'm telling you he is already one...

McConnell is dictator?

How long has he been Dictator of America? It was him that stole the election for Biden in 2020?

Do you ever think about what you're about to type before you type it? Are you purposely trying to do comedy?

Dictators don't "have a hand in" things, moron. Buy a dictionary already.
LOL

You asked who was closer to one and was more likely to ever become one.

This isn't about a single actual dictator at the current time, you set the question up and now you're changing it.

And there never is such a thing as a solo dictatorship, they are always oligarchies with a single head who tries to balance his influence over the other men of power and influence.

McConnell/Schumer are as close to it as is possible, and the Senate is far more likely to ever establish itself as the Dictatorship/Oligarchy without the other branches than Trump or any other President.
