Yeah thats what I'm seriously wondering now, if voting shows an IQ divide among people. Of course there would be lots of anomalies of smart people with low IQ's making the right choice, or lots of dumb people with high IQ's making the wrong choice voting, but generally the entire population might vote according to their IQ's in relation to candidates' positions on issues.

(high IQ's may equal correct positions and policies generally, and low IQ's may equal smooth talking and nice hair?)

Its interesting to think about, but its like what has already been said, IQ is not everything, but it is influencial I think.

I had a few state sponsored tests in school. Got 170 (the max) on one in 3rd grade (which is not magic - I was reading Chronicles of Narnia, Hardy Boys, Choose Your Own Adventure books at the time, my english was way ahead and skewed the test). I got 156 on another as a junior in high school. I had a perfect score on the ASVAB. I never got around to taking SAT tests, they just weren't necessary back then so I didn't bother. I doubt I'd have bothered studying and would have probably come out in the low 1500s.

All of the online tests max out around 140 anyway. They are crap meant to make you feel good and smart. Real IQ tests will make you think hard and long and take some time. Find real logic problems and puzzles instead of tests - they will help you make the best of your grey matter.

If you can solve this problem then you are smart enough to teach yourself and solve most problems. Give it a try, it's fun.

The distribution for this forum looks reasonable given that most people's tests will have been the online kind. The actual average here is probably between 120-130. That's a full standard deviation above the normal intelligence level, which is nothing at all to sneeze at.

I never took the Putnam exam. One of my co-workers here has and he got a 2 out of 12 back when the scoring was one point per question. He spends his days writing software algorithms that optimize retail store locations, streamline supply line problems, optimize sales force deployments, etc. He's quite a clever guy. It stinks that only 2 or 3 of the people at my company have any idea that without his algorithms we would have no product to sell. He seems to think I'm pretty smart and busts my balls all the time for not pursuing mathematics and engineering when I was in college.

Na its free, you just have to click around until you find the way to look at your score for free. You have to buy your IQ report thing if you want that.

I just thought about something else too, it shows a sample IQ score of something, so some people might think its their own score and be putting that in the poll lol.... I hope not though.

It is only logical, look at it like this: those with higher intelligence tend to have difficulty communicating with those of average and lower intelligence (try convincing someone that Ron Paul could win if they would stop with the "I love everything he says but he can't win and I don't want to waste my vote" garbage). Now, keep in mind that you are not getting a good measure of all the RP supporters, rather you are getting a measure of the higher tier of supporters, regarding IQ.

So, the hardcore base of the Revolution is comprised of above average to genius level IQ also indicating that it likely has social skills that turn the average off worse than wearing a wreath of garlic cloves. It is only logical that we would achieve the results you are seeing in your poll. Now, all that we need to do is harness that intelligence and use it to regain liberty.

i really dont think that number is necessarily accurate, anyways. just abstract reasoning... thats all.

i will say that i have never met more intelligent and thoughtful people in my life before i got involved in this. and we're not all genius multi-millionaires, either.

Yeah I was figuring the common IQ score for people on this forum would be around 120-135, which is about what the poll is saying. And yeah I realize the entire group supporting Paul would be vastly different in IQ scoring, but I was mainly interested in the actual supporters like people on here, not just random voter type people thinking "well he has no chance of winning but I guess I will vote for him" or whatever.

Its funny you pointed out the thing about social skills though. Its funny, but probably sadly kind of true if our IQ's really are a little higher than average. As for putting that intelligence to work to win, I think we already have in some ways, I mean we did set the 1-day fundraising record despite a media blackout....

I agree, IQ's are influencial, but not nearly a complete measure of intelligence. Its still an impressive score though.

I don't have the patience to take an IQ test. Also I have little faith in them. I like to think I am more a common sense guy than a "book smart" person. Even if a person is a member of MENSA doesn't mean they are not idiotic when it comes to what is best for our nation.

I solved the "Einstein" problem previously. Its a basic logic problem,where you use the different elements to eliminate possibilities until there is only one possibility left.

As for the Jung Meyers/Briggs test, I used to be an INTJ, but it seems like my years in starting a company and running the local Ron Paul movement had an impact. My rating is now an ENTJ, or what is classified as a Field Marshall.

on a serious note, I was watching the CFR videos of lectures and it occured to me that they were drawing people into the cfr fold by flattering them and appealing to the high IQ of the group. High IQ people want to be appreciated for their genius, right? who doesn't?? When you are smarter than 98-99% of humankind it gets kind of lonely, I am right, here?? I think that is how they work to sway public officials and media personalities. Flattery of superior intellect. If we could have a dignified, intellectual group or "Council" perhaps we could get these intellectuals on the RP side of thought. Wisdom and intelligence are not the same thing, btw. We need more wisdom in the intellectual crowd of this nation.

Na I was just saying if you look at most people's scores the majority of them are above whatever, which is in the top 15% of the population.

Like 140 is in the top 2% I think, so if everyone was above 140 then I would be saying it looks like most of us are in the top 2% of the population.

I think you and I are describing two different things maybe?

First off an IQ of 140 with a SD of 15 puts you in the top 99.63 percentile.

Secondly what I am trying to describe is that averaging out intelligences is not straight forward. If you want to say the majority (80%+ of members) are above 115 that's fine, but you cant say the average is 130 just by using a weighted average. You first have to convert the iqs into percentiles or fractions then work backwards from there back into IQ. Statistics is a bitch man. I wish there was an actuarial guy on this board to explain it better.

I've taken 2 professional tests and an online test. I got a 181 and a 183 on the pro tests and a 154 on the online test.

Never had a real IQ test, and these online ones, besides being a waste of time are mostly inaccurate. I found this site to be interesting. It is an interpolative scaling from GRE scores to IQ.

According this this source, my IQ would be about 135.77 on a 15 SD IQ test, 138.15 on a 16 SD test, and a percentile of 99.145.
