I agree with Ron Paul with some social and economic issues, but his Taiwan policies. As a Taiwanese American, I feel that Ron Paul's foreign policy like and ostrich who stick is end in the ground thinking that he's safe. Ron Paul's foreign policy seems like one of appeasement, and we see from World War 2 that appeasement doesn't work.
Ron Paul says withdraw from Europe and the Middle East, I agree with that. Mainly because we really are being attacked for being there. But Asia is another story, there are a lot of American interests at stake if some sort of disturbance broke out in Asia. Want proof? look at where are your electronics are made. I guarantee that the majority of them are made in China, Taiwan, and Japan. So our economy has a lot at stake. Cong. Paul says we need to talk to other nations, well China is not interested in compromising, well I've seen little evidence, for them it's either "one China, two systems" or war. That's kinda simplified but that's the gist of it. Imagine you're a little third grader (Taiwan) and a big ninth grader (China) starts to bully you, stealing your lunch, your homework, all of this in plain sight as it usually happens. Of course you would expect people quiet possible help you, but Ron Paul seems like the kind of guy who would sit back and watch.
I remember Cong. Paul saying something about 'how would we like it if foreign soldiers to be marching down in our streets" or something along those lines. I have to ask, what if you were that little kid and you were being picked on. Of course there'll be debate about this, but keep that in mind.
I honestly believe that it is the job of all people and all human beings to provide whatever aid they can to help another person. Obviously, only America attempts to help, and the UN nearly fails at it's job. Dr. Paul says lead by example, we're trying to lead but no one's watching.
There's more I have to say, but it's freezing outside and inside. And I have other stuff I need to do. But I hope this make sense and that's my two cents.
