Up to this point I have agreed with one hundred percent of what Ron Paul has said. However, this scares me a little.
I am twenty-four years old and I am a college student who receives financial aid from the government as well as a theater scholarship from my school. The scholarship is not enough. I used to try and work full-time and go to school, but it was taking forever, and as a theater major jobs get in the way of rehearsals and performances of the productions I am required to be in.
I understand the theory that if we eliminate federal financial aid that colleges will have to lower their prices so people can afford it on their own. However, if Ron Paul's plan is to end student loans and hope it all works out, I feel very worried about the outcome. Stuff like that doesn't happen over night. It would take years for the price to get to where it needs to be, not to mention the amount of money colleges would initially lose as first, which would result in people losing their jobs and possibly some schools shutting down.
