I have noticed a lot of people saying they will write-in Ron Paul, even if they know their vote will not be counted, because it makes them feel good. This mentality surprised me a bit, since I figured most of us are more rational based than emotional based. Do you prefer to do something that makes you feel good, or something that maybe doesn't feel good (or as good), but might actually accomplish something?

Vote in the poll, and then please explain your reasoning.

For me personally, I am an INTJ, and I would much rather do something that accomplishes something rather than something that merely makes me feel good.

If you only have one option, then you should go with that option.

Voting for Romney or Obama will accomplish nothing. Not in the least, something positive.

My single vote will not affect the outcome of the elections.

Thus when given the option of feeling good and not accomplishing anything and not feeling good and not accomplishing anything. I choose to feel good.

This coming from an INTJ as well.

Yeah, I fit more there. And I've seen some self selected polls on this board, and it's crawling with INTJs and INTPs, INs, NTs, etc.

Now I'm sure some INTJ will come in screaming LP and/or Gary Johnson, but I don't think that would make me feel good, either.

I chose "I will do what accomplishes something positive." but I will say that your question is a whole lot more complicated than that.

Both. I'd prefer to do something positive and/or productive, and acomplishing something feels good.
(and INTP...not that it matters)

Every single shout out for liberty, even when it feels like the progress is minimal, MATTERS.

In my opinion.

Ron Paul said “When one gets in bed with government, one must expect the diseases it spreads.”

Nothing good can come from "intimacy with" or promoting "bad associates".

I voted for accomplishment. I think defending American freedom and objections to evil actions ARE an accomplishment.

In my opinion.

You're assuming not writing in Paul accomplishes something worthwhile. It doesn't. The INTJ choice is to write him in or abstain, imo.

For me, writing in RP is closer to accomplishing something positive than voting for Romney or Obama (very little difference in my mind). Right now, I don't like the GOP very much. The way things are going, writing in RP is most likely a vote against the GOP establishment. That makes me feel good. If Ron Paul openly endorses Mit Romney, I will still write in RP, but I won't feel as good about it.
INTJ

Don't forget about Gary Johnson and Virgil Goode, also.

I am referring to those who will write in their vote for Ron Paul, when their state doesn't count write-ins. And their reasoning is basically, well it will make me feel good and I can tell my grandkids about it...

It just doesn't make much sense to me.

I'm going to vote for Obama, 4years > 8years. that's doing something that matters coming from an INTJ.

What if there is nothing else to do that accomplishes something positive besides writing in Ron Paul?

I see Ron Paul as a quitter. He could run as an independent but he has decided not to. I'll probably vote for Obama or Romney, or actually if there will be other candidates on the ballot in my state then I will decide between all these candidates. I've seen 2 different sources for presidential filing deadlines for my state, one says July 31 and one says August 28, not sure which is right.

In the long run all that matters is making a positive difference not how you feel about it. INTJ here as well.
