Will the post office stop servicing in states that are no longer union members
?

Hmmm...the states which do lose the federal aspects of support and liabilities. I would think they could do a number of things such as privatize former government services. I mean if UPS/FEDEX can deliver a lletter they should be able to do it for a state which secedes. The state would could set up thier accords and trade treaties etc...taxes would be different, perhaps a flat tax? no tax? boy I'm getting all fired up just thinking of it. But yes they would not be part of the union, but could have treaties and accords with others states. Cricky, are we the New Confederacy?

More than likely, the post office would split, along with most other federal agencies. Hopefully the new union would dissolve most of them.

The CSA had its own mail service, and the USPS stopped service to the South for the duration of the war. International mail should still get there provided there is no war. Even if there is a war, the Red Cross should be able to get letters through the lines.

Ideally,it will cause the federal government to fall apart and then we(the states) can re-establish the federal goverment.

people may wake up and realize just how little they "need" washingtondc. That they dont matter in everyday life.

that it was an expensive joke all along

I'll take the free market...

I look at the taxpayers leaving California in droves in the first real-life Atlas Shrugged moment I've ever had the pleasure to witness, and I sincerely doubt that the union will remain dissolved long. The people of the remains of the U.S.A. will see the states that seceded living free from spying, ridiculous taxes and overregulation and get jealous fast. Jealous enough to demand the same.

+1

why the blood would we want to do that??

In Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.

And then see if we can, as Franklin challenged our forefathers to do, keep it.

No the post office wouldn't serve the new country.

The real question is, would the United States government even allow anyone or anything to cross the border between the US and the newly formed country.

The only way a state could successfully secede is if they have ocean access or share a border with Mexico/Canada.

You underestimate the propaganda wing of the US government.

Don't you know that the states that seceded are supporting terrorists. Don't you know that the new government formed in the new country is anti-american. They don't watch baseball, and they beat their women.

They also are soooo poor. The reason they are poor is not because of the blockades and embargos we are imposing on them, they are so poor because the government is tyrannical and steals all the wealth.

Just be happy you live in the US and not that evil new country. You'll be safe here.

seems to me that would all be accomplished better without a federal government.

decentralize or die!!

Do I? Or have you been living with fat, content Americans long enough that you underestimate their brain power while under duress (read 'hungry')? Time will tell.

One thing I feel pretty sure of. The Northeastern Power States have been screwing the Breadbasket of the World Flyover States long enough that the Breadbasket of the World will not be on Washington, D.C.'s side of that line.

Hello? This country became the most powerful nation the world has EVER known because of the US Constitution. Now you have a bunch of money grubbing corporate prostitutes making laws to contradict this very document and it's spirit in the guise of a better world though it is a blatant violation of their Constitutional oaths. Why would we do this when EVERY other situation where dictorial power was bestowed into the hands of 1 individual has resulted in the suppression of the total population?
Look what this country was before politics influenced the free market. It wasn't broken. Now that we have let these "experienced" pricks run unchecked, the country is broken and we are broke. The only fix is to tough out the situation we let DC put us into and make sure they don't violate their duties again.

We can only hope that something like this will happen... the thing that worries me is what the state governments will try to put in place. These secession movements among the states aren't lead by any grassroots effort that I know of. This is just the state governments reaffirming themselves to the Feds. I support the efforts but I believe they will try to put something retarded in place of what the Feds did.

At least if it is the state, then I can drive down to the capital whereas now, I would have to take off from work and ka ka like that.

I just mean why have a federal government at all?

I don't WANNA be the "most powerful country the world has ever known." Obviously to be such requires a tremendous risk to the citizens!
