What if God smoked Cannibus?

Yup. I think maybe fasting can give an ever so slight hallucinogenic effect. Probably why it's incorporated into a ritual in many religions.

It is far superior to hallucinogens, little over a month ago, I finished a 45 day fast that I didn't want to stop just because of the particular mindset you glean--far more lucid and encompassing than what hallucinogens provide (in my limited experience). I hope to fast again in april. It kick started my life in gear...new ventures/businesses, felt like it rolled back the clock by 20 years. Money coming in, this chinese new year is off to a good start.

Interesting. And I'm not surprised. I believe you 100%. Am curious about a couple of things...

1) What kind of fast was it? i.e. water, juice, etc....
2) Since you said it was "far superior" to hallucinagens but then said your experience was "limited," I was wondering about the
comparison in your opinion.
3) Have you made any dietary adjustments since completeing the fast?
4) How did you break the fast?
5) Did you have any symptoms like detox that people often refer to when doing juice fasts?
6) Did you have periods of fatigue or low energy?
7) did you attempt any form of exercise during the fast, and, of so, how did that go?
8) Was your short term memory affected? Were you a tad forgetful?

Thanks.

I made a thread about this fast here: http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?t=170458

It was a Master Cleanse, which is not a total fast, still intake 800 calories as day.

2) Since you said it was "far superior" to hallucinagens but then said your experience was "limited," I was wondering about the

Foremost, I found a clear understanding of my lifelong dysfunctional eating habits (with a reset to a more healthier diet) and gained inroads/evaluated almost all other aspects/relationships in my life: extremely interesting observing others as well. But this particular lucidity remained after the fast, internalized, not like my somewhat distorted perceptions created by my limited hallucinogenic experiences (I always seemed to experience/make great inroads/perceptions and even wrote them down at times, only to find them lost/unintelligible after the experience was over: not to say there wasn't perceptions, I just couldn't retain them).

3-8

Transitioned to an almost completely raw food diet that I am maintaining. Broke the fast with probiotics and fresh squeezed orange juice. Had detox symptoms [wife had to stop her fast because the symptoms were too great--actually bed ridden (this is not for everybody)]. Experienced unusually high energy throughout the duration of this fast. I exercised but at about 20% of my regular routine, which is two hours a day. Short term memory increased with overall high spirits throughout the fast, which continue on today--feels like it rolled my biological clock back 20 years.

Thanks. I read through much of the thread and got some great ideas. I was concerned about the lack of protein on the fast. Afterall, the body is supposed to be "repairing itself." Doesn't it need pretein to repair? Or, does all the protein come from muscle tissue loss?

There is some research suggesting that Jesus would gather with his disciples and they would burn cannabis on top of the fires in their tents, and they would get high from the smoke emanating from the fire.

There's also research suggesting that between the ages of 13-30 he joined a mushroom cult and just sorta wandered around for 15 years.

This is pure speculation with no basis of historical proof or evidence, and is certainly contradicted by the history of the Church and Christian worship.

Fasting has always been part of the worship of God. The entire Holy Scriptures refer to fasting as a means of bodily and spiritual purification. In fact, it was Adam's resistance to fasting from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil which caused the great fall.

Jesus fasted, as did His disciples, as did Christians from then till now.

The fasting rational is that your body intelligently scavenges damage tissues first for protein--I think this what I experienced. Every place where I had orthopedic surgeries (and I had many) I experienced pain during this fast. I have now regain amazing range of motion/flexibility and after two and half decades, I am out running again--pretty good for a man who was told he would never walk again unaided (I had a malfunction on a jump and had many surgeries/relearned how to walk again).

One of the best experiences I've had was during a three-day water fast. Nothing but water for three days. Great feeling. No hunger after two days. I did feel like I was hallucinating at times and eyes were dialated. Kept looking at my hands like they were a new discovery. Reading this makes me want to do it again, but maybe longer next time.
