What Happened to the Revolution?

I guess the bottom line is that everyone who ever joined a Ron Paul meet-up must like Ron Paul or be a Ron Paul supporter. Whether or not the meet-up is dead or alive...if it's still there, it's been paid for....so how hard would it be for the organizer to post a meet-up for July 12th saying "The March on Washington is July 12th" Ron Paul wanted the March, he got it and we should all be there. Now, its quite understandable if people can't go. But it's not understandable why --of all places-- a Ron Paul Event should not be Posted on a Ron Paul Meet-up.

There are 1,442 meet-ups. If we all do one state we'll have it covered.

I'm doing New York.....NOW

ok, I just did the 12 I was allowed to do and then I posted a plea on the meet-up alliance board.

I'll do more tomorrow when I'm allowed to send email to 12 organizers again.

Still Shocked that out of the 15 I opened....12 had not had the March on Washington posted as a meet-up

You Americans fight too much. Maybe that's whats wrong - Your inability, as a people, to give other people the benefit of the doubt. You seem to have overdeveloped tendencies to leap into the fray with preconceived misconceptions not to mention name calling and insults. The more courteous seem to stay on the margins being courteous, quiet and unnoticed. Or they leave. Why people cannot have differences of opinion without being called on it and deemed a moron never ceases to amaze me. Maybe its a a problem with virtual world; maybe a problem of impetuous youth, but having never stayed any length of time in USA, you lot have made me quiver at the notion of disagreeing with anyone. I'll probably be shot!

I'll be at the march with bells on. Bravo heroic organizers.

I hope to meet you, Raiha. I'll be on stage briefly, so if you get a chance, find me. I'd like to give you a hug.

Americans are made up of peoples from all over the world. Those of us who are descendants of the founding generations are very strong, independent and somewhat surly. In reading about the personalities of our founders, I can tell you, they debated, argued, fought, and even had duals amongst themselves. It is that stubborn, independent quality in us that makes us who we are.

Let not your heart be troubled by it. Never take our harsh words personally. I'm not trying to excuse bad behavior, or character defects. Those types can generally be found in every community, and it doesn't take a trained 'eye' to detect them and just dismiss them. (and yes, the internet tends to make people behave worse than they otherwise would.)

But as a whole, I think most Americans mean well, some of us are just not always the best at relating to those with whom we disagree. :o

I'm currently working on sending notifications to all of the Pennsylvania meetup groups. Some of them have the Revolution March posted on their calendars, but many don't (my OWN meetup group doesn't, for instance)! Just trying to spread the word..we NEED to show our numbers in July!

Use my method that I used for the money bomb, just edit that idea for the march effort. Here is my old stickied post, it worked wonders.

hope that helps

I guess I'm in shock. I just looked at the meet-ups in my area (long Island) and to find that the NYC Ron Paul Meet-Up does not even have the March on Washington as a Meet-up is very disheartening. That is over 1,200 members. What has happened to the revolution?

http://ronpaul.meetup.com/50/ 1,200 members, no mention of March

http://ronpaul.meetup.com/150/ 129 members, no mention of March

http://ronpaul.meetup.com/5/ 273 members, no mention of March

http://ronpaul.meetup.com/143/ 71 members, no mention of March

http://ronpaul.meetup.com/1331/ 96 members, no mention of March

http://ronpaul.meetup.com/552/ 49 members, no mention of March

http://ronpaul.meetup.com/1358/ 73 members, no mention of March

This is all in my general area. Check out your own by putting Ron Paul's name in the meet-up search box.

This is a disgrace.

The List

here is the list of Meet-up Organizers I have contacted because they don't have the Revolution March listed on their calendar or as a Meet-up (very very sad).

I can only contact 12 meet-up organizers a day. If anyone wants to help in this endeavor please do so. Just ad to the list when you're done so we know whom you contacted. There are over 1,400 meet-ups so every little bit helps.

The List of those who have not listed the March on their meet-up:

NYC 1270 members
San Diego CA 955 members
Michigan 854 members
Seattle WA 712 members
Columbus OH 592 members
Los Angeles 566 members
Irvine CA 560 members
Philadelphia 532 members (so close to DC, this is so sad)
San Francisco 525 members
Concord NH 517 members
Orlando FL 423 members
Indianapolis 434 members
Denver CO 408 members (organizer doesn't accept email)
Cincinnati 407 members
Sacramento 403 members
Pittsburgh 392 members (again, so close to DC!)
Miami Fl 377 members (emails undeliverable)
Spoke WA 370 members (email closed)
Los Altos CA 366 members
N Hollywood CA 364 members
St. Louis 354 members

Maybe its a a problem with virtual world

I believe that is it mostly.

Now for the pot calling the kettle black:
You Americans fight too much. Your inability, as a people, to give other people the benefit of the doubt. You... leap into the fray with preconceived misconceptions not to mention name calling and insults.

This is pretty bad that the meetup groups haven't joined in. Umm... we bitched about not having a date set for the march for weeks and months it seemed. Now we have a date set, and right at a month left to prepare and if it fails, we have nobody to blame but ourselves.

correction: That list above are those I already contacted who have not posted the March as a meet-up...there are still over 1,400 meet-ups to contact.

If the "marketing" is left up to the grassroots like the last money bombs were then it will not be big. I would spend money on an actual marketing team to get the word out because without that, it will be hit and miss like the first march/rally.....

Are there any paid marketing efforts going on for the march?

Gas is over $4.00 a gallon. People can not afford to go. They need to save the money to heat their homes this winter (around $1,000 a month extra)

Nobody understands that more than me. I live in New York. The point is...if people just posted it as a meet-up it would give other's a choice of knowing about it and decide for themselves whether they want to go or not. But if their own meet-up doesn't think it's important enough to post....what kind of message does that send out?

I have three people in my meetup working on the "list" sending out letters to organizers who don't have the March listed on their meet-up. The list is long, over 1,440 meet-ups to go through and when you can only email 12 a day....we need more people going through that list.

I want to call out people like Steven Vincent. I know how much you have done for this Revolution and I know you're working on the "Walk to Freedom" but why can't you still have the Revolution March listed as a meet-up? I don't understand that way of thinking!

I just added June 14th and July 12th to rp#363's schedule. We are quite busy with a few different things and I appreciated this "nudge" - Thanks

I hope all who can help, do...

:)

PS, limited connection, laptop down:eek:

My meetup group in Harrisburg, PA has added the march to the calendar, and is working towards chartering a bus. I have also confirmed that there's a significant number of people coming from the Lancaster, PA meetup group. w00t w00t!

You know who will be crucial to the numbers?

DC meetups, Virgina meetups, and Maryland meetups. They are all connected via the metro service - which is efficient - and could really increase attendance pretty easily.

We should focus on getting them ALL to attend.

I'm from Maryland and I strongly agree with that. I posted to my MD Ron Paul facebook group a short message about the march. Sadly, most of the MD meetup groups don't have it listed and the ones that do...only a few people said they're going. And then there are still some Marylanders who until this week thought that the march was still in June...

I'm hoping that everyone just forgot to rsvp. I'd love to see a lot of familiar faces there.
