to people who give an argument like the following against Dr. Paul. Here is a response someone posted to a Ron Paul supporter on a different forum. I do not believe that Paul is racist, but that newsletter stuff sure hurt him.

"There's a big article from a few weeks ago at "The New Republic" that has been hashed out in the news and on the interweb tubes. A newsletter full of racist crap, mostly Jew bashing, but lots of other stuff too, was published under Ron Paul's name and with his support, but he now denies he wrote the stuff or knew what was in it. I believe the first, but not the second part of that statement. Here's a sample from the article and a link to TNR."

Then he goes on to cite the article. Many people who I talk to see Ron Paul as "an angry white supremacist". I know that the media did a good job of bring down a great man when people who I believe to be intelligent say things like this.

You could try something along the lines of........

Boy that's been beaten to death and discredited..... Did you know McCain left his crippled wife and two kids for a young rich woman to launch his political career?

*did I say that out loud?*

7 posts.. and bringing up the long dead newsletter thing... my friend, that's a good way to get yourself labeled a troll in these parts.

Point them here... and ask them if they're stupid enough to believe everything the media spews at them, or if they're smart enough to spot a baseless smear job when they see one?

The article in reference was from 20 years ago and has been addressed multiple times. The man runs under a platform of the constitution and a strong belief in peoples freedoms and liberties. He is the only candidate who is against the war, does not believe in preemptive war, and a non-intervention policy when dealing with other countries. He believes in promoting trade and communication with all peoples and that we accomplish more through peace than war. Does this sound like the policies of a racist. RP is far from being a racist, he is a man of peace, civil rights, and tolerance.

EVERYONE! The best defense here is:

"Anyone who accuses Paul of being a racist is totally insane or intellectuallyy dishonest. Ron Paul's heros are MOSTLY non-whites. Ludwig von Mises and Murray Rothbard were both Jews. Ghandi is Indian. Martin Luther King, Jr., Rosa Parks, and Walter Williams are all African Americans.

Nobody has EVER heard him say anything even remotely similar, and the people who accuse him of this even admit that, and claim that he is somehow speaking in code...?!

Ron Paul has pushed for 30 years for equality under the law for all people. What could possibly be LESS racist?!"

While the rest of your quote may be accurate, please try not to counter racist accusations by responding with accusations of insanity or dishonesty, it might undermine your point...just a thought.

I just say:

"Those letters have been brought up many times and each time have been discredited. Also, the president of the NAACP has been a long time friend of Ron Paul, and supports him as well. His congressional district is mixed, and he wins by massive margins there as well."

"So how would an angry white supremacist manage to befriend the president of the NAACP and keep getting re-elected to congress for 20 years?"

Or how about..have you EVER heard the media say ONE thing nice about RP? I am telling you he is NOT a racist. Why don't you listen to a few of his speeches...

THAT's what I was tryin' to say..you were just much more succinct. lol

Those letters go completely against anything he is ever been called to have said and they are completely the antithesis to his message of individual liberty. It seems to me, his argument for not writing those letters completely debunks an otherwise completely paradoxical assertion.

I just say: Yeah, and I just saw an article that said British Petroleum is a green company.

If The New Republic is your source for Ron Paul information, try researching the editors, past and present, first.

I was arguing with an Obama supporter about the war in Iraq. After several argument "volleys" he pitched, "Well, don't we have a moral obligation to not leave that country as a disaster?"

I paused, as I had not been pitched this argument before.

I replied,
"The Moral obligation argument is an invalid argument as it sidesteps the real issue at hand." First, the War is not a war at all, it's an invasion and we are NOT their spreading democracy, we are securing oil fields and building pipelines. Also, whether a country has a civil war OR NOT is NOT our 'obligation'. If you are to use the 'Moral Obligation' argument and someone is to accept it as a valid argument you are still negated in the fact that one could argue that we have a moral obligation to our own people, to the people of Darfur and Africa and Kenya and Venezuela. At what point would our 'Moral Obligations' turn us into the broken countries we are trying to rebuild? Wouldn't our moral obligation be to spend 3 trillion a year on OUR OWN people instead of Iraq's? Wouldn't our Moral Obligation be to repeal the Patriot Act, promote freedom, prosperity and national security?"

Hey, he might just be a new supporter. When you hear these allegations it is troubling. It's important new RP supporters know the whole truth about the letters so they don't have this issue nagging in their brain.

I especially like Dr Paul's response to Wolf Blitzer (youtube, someone posted it in this thread), it was real, raw and obviously the truth. Let's not forget that some white-supremesist keeps "leaking" these letters because he is pissed that Dr Paul is NOT an anti-semite racist.
