Because it's not the federal government's responsibility. It would default back to the states where it properly belongs.

RP will only end the war on drugs at the federal level. What the States do after that is their own business. Therefore, the war is far from over.

Fair enough. I always forget to say "federal war on some drugs".

But as badly as it's gone by this point I daresay a lot of states will have a hard time starting it up again locally.

What has the Democratic Congress done for you so far? I don't even live in a town with their new renamed post offices so they might as well have done nothing for me other than get paid by my taxes.

If nothing else, he could be like mr rogers, put on some sweater vests and sneakers and educate all the children (read non-properly educated citizens of the united states) about the constitution, freedom, liberty, the rule of law, and sound monetary systems. Even now as it stands he's spread his message to tens of thousands of people who might not otherwise have ever heard it or ever even thought to consider it.

Bill Clinton was on the Daily Show on Friday and was talking about how Congress used to only spend 7 months in Washington when he was a kid and now they're flying back and forth between D.C. and their district so much that they're sleep deprived which makes them edgy. President Paul can give the Democratic congress the sleep they rightly deserve. No sense wasting all of your time being a partisan blowhard when your legislation is will never see the light of day.

Stuff that won’t get done are:
Get rid of the IRS (unless he can get the dems in on Fair Tax which isn't likely)

I think that he can get rid of the IRS. He can issue a pardon to all tax evaders.
He can issue an executive order to halt withholding taxes. He can issue a pardon to all future tax evaders. He can appoint an IRS commissioner who would reassign and redirect personel. This would effectively cripple and kill the IRS.

He can submit budgets to Congress that actually slash spending. Even after Congress adds some of it back (so they can brag to their constituents) the result will still be a much smaller budget than we have today.
