If they elect Ron Paul, my first guess that they will be called "awesome"

But, in the meantime, Mainers? Maininites? Maineys?

If you're from here, then you're a Mainah. ;) Mainiac is sort of a new term, I still don't see that in use often. Mainer is the default term.
 
When I lived in Utah I always found it irritating because you are a Utahin, or Utahun. Try saying it, it's no fun.
 
I prefer to call them Maininites.

Mainah is the term most use, which plays on our lack of an accent, as compared to the wicked funny ways people talk in the other 49 states.

Mainiac is not as much in favor today as it was in days of yore. Even more archaic is the correct spelling Maineiyak, which is a play on the native's natural truculence
 
We just say Mainer up North. The Northern part of Maine is like a whole different state, than the Southern Part.
