Gary Johnson What about Gary Johnson?

Ron has improved his presentation since 2008. Better attire, he keeps his hands on the podium instead of pointing with his fingers so much. I think someone "got through to him" to work on those things.

If Gary's entourage is lurking here, you need to "get through to him" as well. Gary has odd body language, he needs to not shift and slink back and forth when he speaks.

Absolutely right. And for the poster who's going to write Ron in, there are no write ins in my state. So, I will either be voting third party or not pulling the presidential lever, which is what usually happens.

Gary Johnson might not even be on the ballot, either- and he definitely won't be on some state ballots. So it's really speculation at this point.
If you really want to vote for someone on the ballot and RP isn't on it, you will might have several choices depending on the ballot access climate of your state- Constitution, Boston Tea Party, LP, Green, Americas Elect , A3P, Socialist progressives, etc

Why not? What about him bothers you?

Oh boy, I did not look at your number of posts when I posted my reply.
Let's start again...... Welcome to the Forums! :)
Please understand that this forum is utterly and completely devoted to getting Dr Paul elected as President. No one else.
Also, please understand that the Grassroots Central part of the forum is tweeted. I did not realize this for awhile either.
Again, welcome to the forums! Let's talk about Dr Paul and getting him elected! :)

Gary Johnson calls for shrinking the size of government by even more than Ron Paul. I guess I'll have to see what he does. When the time comes, there is a chance that I'll write Ron Paul in on the ballot. There is also a chance that I'll vote for Gary Johnson.

I doubt I'll bother to help Johnson win the LP nomination though, local politics in New Hampshire is very more important to me so most of my political activism time will be directed in that direction. 30 State Reps and 3 State Senators endorsed Ron Paul in NH and most of them are running for reelection.

Too early to speculate about this. I like Johnston more than Bob Barr from 2008. I wish Johnston had run for Senate in NM instead of a presidential run.

I asked him that question last week when he came down to Fort Lauderdale and he said he never considered it because he doesn't agree with the 17th amendment nor he wants people to expect him to bring back earmarks.

How does it work in getting a third party into the debates? Like if a third party got the votes in 2012, they would get to debate in 2016? If this is the case, it seems smart to vote libertarian, no?

I have nothing against Gary Johnson or third parties............But,.........At some point, Gary Johnson was faced with the choice of hitching his wagon to a known quantity and established RP movement within his own republican party......OR........he could gamble and reach for the brass ring to carve a place in the establishment for himself.................He gambled and ended up short and now thinks, like everyone else, that the libertarians or other third parties would wet themselves to get a failed establishment shill to run on their ticket. Good luck with that Gary. You and Bob Barr can send us a postcard from political oblivion. You had your chance.

Supporting a Romney/Paul ticket is worth considering. While VP is largely symbolic, there are several good things that could come out of that scenario.

1. Rand would have a massive audience ready to hear the message, even if it has to be a bit watered down. Not only would he have a captive audience during the primary but also during the Romney/Paul presidency.

2. Rand would be front-runner for 2016 in the case that Romney/Paul loses.

3. We would have a liberty spokesperson in Romney's ear 24/7. Who knows what that would mean, but it can only be a positive.

4. Rand could provide a serious check on Romney's decision making. If Romney attempts to pass through legislation that is a serious erosion of our liberty then Rand could threaten him by speaking out against the administration. This, in turn provides a certain level of leverage.

5. I'd love to hear a big crowd start yelling "President Paul" at a Romney/Paul rally. THAT would be cool.

6. Rand could influence Romney to choose a good cabinet.

What if Ron Paul is the GOP nominee and Gary Johnson is Libertarian candidate... Wouldn't Gary Johnson siphon some votes away from Ron when Ron is against Obama? Would a Libertarian vote for Ron or for Gary? Would a Gary Johnson supporter vote for Ron Paul just because Ron Paul CAN win.. just so we have someone who isn't an establishment. I watched the Gary Johnson internet TownHall and he doesnt expect to win. He expects to get 5% of the votes with most optimism of 15%. Those 5-15% is a lot of votes for Ron D=.

I looked on twitter and the ONLY tweets I found were the things that made the "center column" on the home page. Do you have evidence to the contrary?

The LP would definitely stand down and endorse Ron if he won the nomination. The two leading candidates are telling people to support Ron Paul in the GOP primary and endorsed Paul last time he ran; why would they do that if they didn't want Paul to win?
