Weigel: A New ‘Pro-Rand Paul’ Super PAC is Making Paul’s Official Super PAC Nervous

Yea... There was that and also people repeating lie that official campaign cant communicate with grassroots, volunteers and this forum... I treid really hard to tell people it is not true.
They can't if it is regarding independent expenditures.

Regarding PACs there is difference between communication and coordination and management.
Yes and any communication can be construed as such which is why its best not to do it.

No, not at all. Benton helped Rand win in 2010, and helped Ron get more votes in 2012.

But Benton is insisting that the Senator will only be appearing at the events of one Super PAC.

I hope Benton is right. At least then we can end all hopes of winning early on.

You're putting a lot of emphasis on something that's meaningless. Trump today was mocking the idea that there is no contact between candidates and their PACs. Rand isn't an idiot, he knows what's going on, all the contacts that are needed to be made are being done behind the scenes or were already mostly done.

So? If the PAC is going to be financed with money from say, three rich guys, and they already coordinated everything even before starting the PAC, why the hell does that matter?

I opened this thread expecting to read about another blimp or super brochure disaster. This is run by professionals.

Carry on, nothing to see here.

wait, Jesse Benton is working for Rand Paul.... WTF!!!!!!!!!!

I thought he was thought of as the plague, and up to shennanigans.... am I wrong here?

Benton was appointed to head of this separate PAC. This was considered a good distancing move by most, since Benton will not be involved with campaign decisions or spending decisions when it comes to official campaign donations.

"Exactly.... and I assure you this was known and had been planned for a looooooooong time"

Well then, Benton's reaction and the Paul campaign should have been "Hey great! Another super PAC helping us out,". Instead he's being quoted that they are "concerned".

Which is it then, concern or happiness? Hmm?

Or maybe it's "concern" donors now have an alternative to throwing their money down a rat hole when it come to Benton. And they have an alternative to the kind of neutered messaging Benton's crew would offer.

I don't know that Weigel's words are trustworthy in the first place but that's not what the article says.

You are assuming Jesse's quote wasn't taken out of context and is indeed accurate.

So once again, Matt is here telling us in public that the candidate is coordinating strategy with not one, but 2 Super PACs. A clear violation of the FEC election guidelines.

You violated the law last time when you were employed by the campaign. And you here indicating that it wasn't just you - that it's so systemic in the Paul camp that it's ok to go public with it?

(and those of you getting ready to frantically message me, save it. I am not ever going to be the person who buries my head in the sand over these things.)

So?

Just because Matt wants everyone to think he's an insider does not mean anyone trusts their ship to his loose lips.

Matt's theoretical spin is not admissible in any court of law.

Of course not. The problem is that someday some reporter or investigator is going to discover our little friend and use that ego to dig in dirt best left virgin.

I'm just glad Rand has a Super PAC with people who are competent that might actually make some noise. Hopefully Benton is as irrelevant in the process as possible, although I did like the ridiculous 'Sunday Sunday Sunday' ad. He should stick to ads that could go viral, and out of the political strategy aspect.

He should stick to online only ads that as few people as possible see. The new PAC might dry up his money.

And no "politicking"

4:48 Jesse Benton loves him some politics. Unfortunately, that's the mindset of the guy who ran the Ron Paul campaign [into the ground]. The goal of Ron Paul supporters has always been liberty, not having fun in politics.
