Yea, I get at least a call a day for something political. Not all of them are from Ron Paul people. I don't answer the phone from numbers I don't know the few weeks before the election. I have four calls missed calls today from numbers I don't know. Only one left a voicemail and it was an automated poll. It can get pretty annoying.

People get all crazy for Iowa. Like, people coming in from out of state, bombarding Iowa with calls... I hope we're paying attention to the states that follow because they happen SO FAST. The primary season is here one minute and gone the next and it doesnt do any good if we've called everyone in Iowa 3-4 times but only 10% of the rest of the country.

FYI the phone from home program is RUN by the campaign NOT the grassroots. WE didn't do anything wrong. ALL WE did was call as was requested by the campaign. So the screw up isn't our fault, it is the fault of whoever set up the Phone from Home program from the campaign.

It is my understanding the the people that set up the system are volunteers of the campaign.

The phone from home program should have had a better tutorial or training video that listed do not call better. The Romney campaign did a better job with a tutorial video on their phone website.

You would be amazed at how stupid phonebanking technology is. I have worked at multiple call centers, and they all apparently use the same technology. It's simply a "list" that is fed to a computer, and the computer regurgitates the numbers as it has them on list. The fact this is 2012 and nobody has a better system, really is stupid.

I used to work at a call center too. I can't tell you how many times we called the wrong time zone, called a dead person's house, called multiple times or just plain got screamed at for bugging people during their dinner, etc. If it were me getting yelled at by people, I'd stop. I am not going to run the risk of pissing people off. But that's just me.

Btw, I was on a Ron Paul article (cannot recall which website exactly) and saw a man comment "You've called my house 17 times today. I probably won't hear from you again after this." So, he could have been a troll, exaggerating, or there's some validity to this. Just because a person's new doesn't mean they're covert trolls. Just a tip though, it's kind of hurtful that it's implied so often. I guess look at the person's other posts and use your best judgment, but seriously, it's a turn-off to new supporters. I've only been here a few months but it kind of seems like old supporters have a superiority complex, despite the sticky at the top of the Grassroots Central thread. I'd have been a Ron Paul supporter for much longer had I not been in college and working full time. Takes a lot out of someone, and you tend to ignore things that aren't "relevant" to your life (well, that's how I looked at politics back then.) Just my 2 cents.

Anyway, I hope this gets sorted out and no one gets reamed out too badly from all of this I remember how it feels and it sucks.

The plus side of all this, is that we know there are a hell of a lot of dedicated volunteers to call for GOTV. If the campaign can figure out a streamlined way to take advantage of this without repeated calls we can have a serious concentrated effort for GOTV in larger states.

Having said that, it always amazes me when politically active Iowans get irritated about being called so much. Can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen and all that. Im sure they've enjoyed all the money their first in the nation status has brought to their economy. Can't really have it both ways.
