We were robbed!

It's like they're doing something, which is taking an unusual amount of time, to freeze Ron in 5th place. I don't like this

The "ballots" are slips of paper that are discarded immediately.

Absolutely absurd! Would you stay with your Bank if they did this with your checks, without at least a digital archive? Voting should always have check and balances, there's no ifs ands or buts about it! It's our future on the line and it should be transparent and accountable. Unlike our current administration. Whether there was fraud or not this system SUCKS!!!

Don't worry... just take screenshots, record the news reports.

If there is fraud, we will raise hell.

If not, we move to the next states.

chill. we're almost exactly on par with any estimate or exit poll you look at. we never were gonna win iowa... this is still the GOP race... and it just started.

I agree.

Instead, the caucus results are 10% -- exactly matching the polls. The landline polls. Of long-time registered Republican voters. What a coincidence.

This allows them to say, "See the polls are credible"

>>Good idea...<<

You are welcome.

In the poll I took last night standing in Golds Gym we lost. There was no hanky panky when they told me they'd never heard of Ron Paul, no one had tricked them, but there was apathy so thick I nearly gagged. Every day we all need to talk to total strangers... if anything just drop the name with a big smile.

Ok so the Iowa poll shows we are not the "fit and trim" campaign that we know we can be. So let's get out there everyday and work it out. I can hear my old personal trainer right now yelling at me... just 7 more buddy... give me 7 more...

What would Richard Simmons do ? ROTFL LOL

Some good news from CNN:

40% of Independents in Iowa voted for Dr. Paul - way more than any other candidate.

~205 of the youth vote in Iowa went for Dr. Paul- 3rd place, with Huckabee in 1st

What does this mean?

It looks like Ron Paul is going to kick some major ass in New Hampshire.

Also, our younger voters are showing up where it counts.

It is quite likely that the GOP machine is playing games (only 93% reporting at 12:30am??) however, we should be cautious and get the facts before we cry foul.

Paul DESTROYED Giuliani. Our man is still in the race. Chin up, y'all. This was only Round 1.

Why does no one keep the paper ballots unless they're trying to hide something?

Exactly what alot of us are thinking.

This sounds ridiculous, why discard the paper trail?
Who else in the world today, discards original documents? WTF

With the enthusiasm behind Ron Paul, supporters were more motivated to go to the caucus than supporters of other candidates.

Sadly, I'm really not convinced that THAT is true. We WANT it to be true, but I am not certain that it is.

Everyone in my own meetup is "convinced" that they need to join our local county GOP and attend it's meetings.

Tonight I had myself and 3 other members present (only 2 of 4 who had RSVP'd "yes") -- from a total of 28 people (16 county resident members and 12 local college students).

Now counting me as the organizer, that is... 10%

The typical turnout for ALL types of organizations is... 10%

Now hopefully more than 10% of Ron Paul supporters actually attended their caucuses in Iowa... but something tells me it didn't top 50%. It would be interesting to hear from RP Meetup organizers in the state if they even saw all of their MEMBERS at their local caucus; and it would NOT surprise me if they only saw half.

I am *reluctantly* coming to the conclusion that the "typical" Ron Paul supporter is just as lazy, apathetic, and un-motivated as the rest of the population. (If they can do something online and get some instant gratification from it, sure... if it requires actually getting off their butt... no more than anyone else.)

that is sad news. very sad. people should realize how important this is. more important than any shyness people might have.

Here are the tallies from the place we caucused at:

Romney 398
Huckabee 157
McCain 151
Paul 133
Thompson 97
Giuliani 35
Keyes 7
Hunter 5

That's 13.5% for Ron Paul.

When I gave my speech a lot of people were in that auditorium for Paul. Because the registration was taking so long, they almost decided not to do any speeches, but finally they decided on allowing 2 minutes for each speech.

I will tell you that the people in my town who weren't for RP are not the brightest. I talked to several of them and they see this as almost like a game. Nothing more.

It was a way bigger turn out then we expected. Had the turn out been like it was in 2000, Ron Paul would have taken home the prize with 133 votes.

Oh, it's not shyness. It's laziness and apathy.

It's 101 "Sorry" reasons: "Sorry, I forgot" -- "Sorry, I had a stuffy nose." -- "Sorry, one of my kids got sick." -- "Sorry, my dog ate the email."

I mean seriously.

If their JOB required them to be at a meeting on a weeknight or a weekend, they would BE THERE.

If their bowling/dart league had a party, they would BE THERE.:D

Heck, if their local Bar had a 50 cent Beer night, they would BE THERE.:p

Once a month GOP meeting for Ron Paul & the future of our country... meh.:(

yup

no surprise here

This is nothing compared to the usual tricks this gang employs. I feel the grassroots and campaign should keep this in perspective. Placing third in Iowa is like catching a greased pig. You have to know what you're doing and be on your toes.

Unfortunately, Id have to say that you're right on the money.

I'm willing to sport a Ron Paul T-Shirt and go bowling, or shoot some pool... and if I have to the 50 cent beer night I'm definately in for. In the same breath we are in for the fight of our lives. My sincere guess is that we need to be seen locally... and seen locally in large numbers. There is a gun show next week and we have rented not one table but two tables to share ideas and flyers.

While the media may think otherwise, NO NO NO we are not going to go quietly..!

Sorry I disappeared. The results on TV were Fox news and since the totals for the top four candidates was 96%, I assumed that meant RP had less than 4%. A mistaken impression that Fox was in no hurry to correct.
Today I see that the results were a little more believable, if not disappointing. BTW my precinct is SD3, Shenandoah, IA, Page County. And I still think this is a pretty insecure system, even if 99.9% of the people are honest.
