We should be working on turnout, not reaching out

I remember watching the election analysis on the eve of the 2004 elections. Pundits were surprised at Bush's victory in many of the districts that 'should have gone to Kerry'. They concluded that it was voter turnout.

Bush's campaign made sure that all of their supporters went to the polls and brought their friends and family. Bush was not doing well in the polls, but his supporters showed up in extremely high percentages.

I feel that is the tactic we should be following. I think I saw some reports that our turnout was as low as 17%. Just think of how it would've been if 40-50% of our supporters showed up to the polls.

We've done all we can to recruit new supporters. We did extremely well in the debates. We are all over the internet. We even have a blimp! If anyone was ever curious about RP, they would've looked him up by now. That all is very good, but now its time to concentrate on other things.

We need to focus on buses, carpools, outreach, encouraging people to register, encouraging people to register republican, convincing them to take a day off to vote. We got everyone we need, now we just got to get them to sacrafice a few hours from work.

agreed, turn out can really change things on super Tuesday when other candidates have no organization in most states

I agree, turnout is important. But I disagree that we need to stop reaching out. There are MANY people who haven't heard of Ron Paul, even the people who pay attention to politics. And the people who have heard of him probably don't understand his economic and political ideas, being brainwashed by the schools and media for most of their life.

Reach out, then turn out.

I agree. Volunteers help with Get Out The Vote (GOTV) efforts
We find supporters and make sure they vote.

Ron Paul in debates, tv commercials, etc. does the persuading.
