We need to clear the confusion on Ron Paul

Why? Because I don't support Alex Jones for president? Ron Paul doesn't support a great deal of the things Alex Jones does, I support Ron Paul, not Alex Jones.

Its an old 'spoof'...so why did you post this?.....wait...are you hoping less informed newbies will read this thinking it has merit?...nah....couldn't be...right?....

We need to make fliers which compare the candidates on the issues:

Issue - Ron Paul - Romney

Against Individual Health Mandate ✓ ✗
Against Gun Control ✓ ✗
Would Bring the Troops Home ✓ ✗
Supports Sound Money ✓ ✗
Supports Medical Marijuana ✓ ✗
Against Waterboarding ✓ ✗
Against War in Iraq ✓ ✗
Against Cap and Trade ✓ ✗

Or a website where people can download flyers.

Someone needs to make the fliers first ;)

I'll try and make a few templates to use tonight and upload them.

Cool. I'm not skilled in website development, but I would pitch-in to help pay for it as long as it was kept very professional.
Also, Ron Paul is in favor of legalizing industrial hemp too.

I'll try and make a few fliers on photoshop, and upload them here first. Then once we get a few different ones we should make a website where people can easily download them

ill drop em in mailboxes :P i would take out the medical marijuana though, it is a turnoff to some people. Maybe put it last?

Why don't you just go to RP's congressional site and copy/paste the issues onto your flier.

Also, you might want to use door hangers or stick it under people's doors as its illegal to stuff people's mailboxes.

Is there a website with simply a big list of myths about Ron Paul and debunks them?

Maybe we should make one?

That way we can point anyone who has misconceptions about him that explains how they are just myths.

Didn't Barack Obama do this exact thing during the 2008 campaign? It seems to have worked okay for him.

This site and others such as C4L are great, but there's simply too much info for the average fence-sitting voter to easily digest. I've been here off and on for a couple years and this place still overwhelms me. After all, I do try to have a life.

A plain, simple, bullet-pointed, one-page, issue-by-issue, serious, non-sarcastic website sounds like common sense. It's hard to believe it hasn't already been done.

Instead of saying "Against ...." for everything, switch it around to say what he's FOR. Positivity matters.

Is it really illegal for anyone except USPS to put things into mailboxes? I know FedEx/UPS aren't allowed, but I wasn't aware private citizens are barred too...?

my .02

war. maybe i'm optimistic here....

many of the misinformed perceptions center around racism and crazy supporters chanting "end the fed."

but we have the lone champion of peace representing us. for all but a few neocon bastards profiting from these deadly spirit-killing forays throughout the midddle east, peace is very appealling.

this is the message we need to spread, not just for the present but the future as well. young people like peace, old people like peace, just about everyone prefers peace though few of us know the full advantages of peace.

the lone champion of peace is also the champion of fiscal sanity (another thing just about everyone likes). here's a link putting the "defense" budget at at least $1.2 trillion http://original.antiwar.com/engelhardt/2011/03/01/the-real-us-national-security-budget/

this is the message we must advance

The racism thing is scurrilous and a true smear and falsehood.

But Ron Paul's supporters do chant End the Fed, and they are by no means crazy. Ron Paul did write a bestselling book by the same name, you know.

Basic economic literacy probably seems crazy to some these days, but "it is no measure of health to be well-adjusted to a profoundly sick society."

i agree with you wholeheartedly (and there are something like 80+ federal programs devoted financial "literacy"...). the point i'm making is that the most universally appreciated position, imo, is the anti-war position. it addresses fears on the "right" and "left" of insolvency and hits on a wholesome mostly universal desire within individuals not to inflict harm on others and/or see their tribemates injured and/or killed.

True or not, the perception is there, and it has the real effects of giving people any easy reason to not support Ron Paul. Check out this video from about 3:00 to 4:00. Frum basically brought up the newsletters to Jon Stewart and implied that Ron's a horrible person (because he is accused of being racist). I even verified that this what what Frum meant by sending him an email after I saw that video asking for sources as to why I should stay away from Ron. He sent me the link to the National Review article outlining Paul's "racist" history.

The issue, though hardly reflective of Paul's personal views or current characteristics or policy suggestions, is going to come up, and it's going to keep people from supporting him, especially in the general election.
