We need our own state.

why don't we stay in our own states if we like them, and the energetic among us travel around with supplies and messages?

Mandy,

Is there any attempt to concentrate their numbers in certain parts of NH, or not?

No, there's no need to. There are so many districts and each one is tiny. Every 200 or so people have their own rep! Most reps run unopposed because money isn't a factor- their delegates only make $100/year.

Really, guys, don't dismiss this state. I had to be honest and I feel like I was being a bit hasty in that. They have really done their homework.

I am particularly interested to know if they are spread out all over NH or concentrated

The Free State Project allows people to move anywhere in New Hampshire. Frankly, I don't see how this makes much sense in the long run. You'll still have to pay for endless wars and occupations; you'll still be under the patriot act; you'll still have to submit to any federal gun ban placed on Americans, etc.

If you want to be under the jurisdiction of our government and have a social network of Ron Paul supporters, you should just find a state/county/city where Ron Paul had a high vote count and move there. As for me; I am tired of the wars, unwarranted surveillance, loss of freedom and high taxes.

Montana, especially if the 'they're seceding if the Supreme Court axes the 2nd Amendment' thing is true. Remember how their state voted for Ron a whole bunch? Remember how bigwigs there endorsed Ron? Yeah. Oh, and the Lakota's withdrawal from their treaties with the US includes some of southeast Montana. 2 for 1.

The Free State Porject would be wonderful, IMHO, if we had 20 years to make it work. The fact they are not even concentrating tells me that it will be a wasted effort. JMO...

...to each his own.

You can drive across the entire state in 3 hrs. The state itself is where they are concentrating. We need RP people in every little district to take over the NH legislature and enact legislation to push the feds OUT of the state.

Mandy,

You must concentrate and change a county now. We do not have time to hope our trickle can match the flood of socialists moving in every year from MA.

I know the state very well. Went to HS in Dublin, NH. My daughter lives there. I visit all of the time. If we couldn't do better than 5th there, we have no chance of making NH a libertarian freedom zone in time. TPTB are not going to give us time.

If you can't do it in NH you can't do it anywhere. If you don't have time to move to NH and run unopposed in a tiny district to get elected then you certainly don't have time to start from scratch by moving to an island or taking over a bigger state that is MORE beholden to federal subsidies.

Research the FSP site. All of these doubts are addressed. All of them. I'm going. A lot of others are going. Others are there, already serving in the NH House, working for the Governor, elected to the House of Reps.

If I'm going down by a dictatorial govt I'll be going down surrounded by gun toting freedom lovers who didn't roll over and take pride in our Constitution. I do not feel safe in VA and that's a sad state of affairs. VA has bent over imo.

Mandy,

You make some very, very valid arguments. I am keeping an open mind on this subject...

Thanks for the information and encouragement.

Then join Liberty Island.

I love the Free State Project, but it's just too damn cold for me in New Hampshire.

Which (warm) state would be the best choice to dominate? I'm looking at South Carolina myself. I've been researching Charleston, SC.

I lived in Los Angeles my whole life, home of warm weather. Never saw snow land on my home, EVER.

Moved to NH five months ago, and loving it. It's only cold in the winter, and you get used to it. Besides, it's a small price to pay for liberty, and the FSP is THE project for liberty right now. It's going great!

Mandy,

I know you're intent on going to New Hampshire, but I wanted to mention something to you before you leave. Most likely; Ron Paul supporters and others who are looking for freedom of government are going to wait to see what happens at the elections. We never know what will happen for sure and perhaps many of us are hopeful that something will come up. If a desired result does not come about, it seems like there will be a move with momentum to get freedom from this government we live under.

I wish I could say to you that I believe we can just "deal" with whoever we get in for president and campaign hard for a constitutional candidate in 2012. Unfortunately, from my sense, I think 2008 could be our last year to restore freedom. Ron Paul has not generally done well in the polls, but I believe he really gave the establishment a hard hit because of coming out of no where. I believe the elections are rigged and, as I think most of us know, the media is also rigged.

With a constitutionally sound candidate it should seem like a no-brainer that Ron Paul would be our president, but the establishment has a lot of influence and Ron Paul was left in the dust. However, with the record-breaking money bomb, strong grassroot support, general interest in the cause of liberty and limited media attention he did get a lot of people were educated about things the establishment doesn't want you to know about.

I'm not trying to preach to the choir, but I think the amount of momentum we were able to build and the effectiveness we made with the whole establishment coming against us; that they will not want to give us another chance in 2012 and will probably pull some kind of dictarorship or really make sure things are rigged even better. Because of this, I consider that We The People really only have two options if we want to be free:

1. We have to secede from the United States of America (via Maine, Alaska, etc.)
2. There has to be another revolution

With all that said, I think after the elections you will either see a push to move forward, or maybe the move will totally die. What I want you to consider is whether you would rather follow the approach of the FSP and still be under our government, or whether you are willing to wait until after the election and see where the flow of people flock to.

I just believe this movement for secession is a real sentiment among people, and believe once other people in our country hear about it that they will also be very intrigued. About a hundred million people voted in the general election in 2000 and a little over that number in 2004. With this being the case, a conservative estimate is that 50,000,000 or more people in this country are not involved in voting.

I would guess that a real move for secession would have over a million people flock to one state and likely with the majority not even having voted for Ron Paul. Did you meet any people who didn't want to hear about Ron Paul because they were distrustful of the voting process or thought he had no chance? I've heard another person warn me not to get hyped because of what happened with Ross Perot and that it was a lost cause. Unless you are content with going to another state and being under the federal government, I would strongly suggest that you sit on the sidelines through this election and see what movement comes along - I would hate to see you move to New Hampshire to have a movement form somewhere else and have to move again for a secession. :D

I'm up for moving again. We were planning on moving anyway, just were not sure where. We were looking for a homeschooling friendly, low govt state. Even if there was no FSP, no revolution, I'd still be eyeing NH. VA is a lost cause, I know if there is another movement (I'd like to see MANY) it won't be in VA. Our politicians sold their souls and our elites care more about money than freedom. I live in a state where people vote for McCrazy because they LIKE him. ;) So Yeah, I'm gone. NH it is and I will work to help the FSP while I'm there. I will stay there unless we DO need to move elsewhere but I'm not counting on that happening. The way I see it, right now everyone else is talking about what to do, where to go, etc. The folks in FSP are beyond that and doing the work already. While I appreciate your concern over me moving to NH...don't be worried. :)

free state project is already up and running. they have a website, forums, social networking, job and home networking... why start over again?

bring your guns (open carry)
and buy a warm coat ;-)

I bumped the thread to try to get these copycat threads to stick with this one until one of them is pinned. We are dividing thoughts, ideas and efforts with all of these competing threads.
