Watch out for Rhode Island

If i lived closer to the CT/RI border, I'd go over and help out....but I cant imagine that its that hard to get 1000 signatures in such a densely populated state

Have you collected signatures before? Because its pretty difficult. Every supporter is needed so get over there and help if it's allowable by law.

Is medical marijuana legal in RI? Seems like we could get a lot more than 1,000 signatures just from that. I have to believe that will provide a lot of support in California. obama beat the snot out of mccain in california in 2008.

I really honestly truly believe that Dr Paul would succeed in garnering lots of obama people in a head to head "debate".

I'm not under 30, but I'm under 60.

Excuse me but, this is inexcusable. Who the heck is in charge of making sure that ballot completion is done? Shades of 2007. This should be a non issue by now.

If the campaign does not have someone full time on making sure this happens, they need one now. I am getting tired of posts that petitions are not complete.

Say where and how many they are lacking so the grassroots can jump in and help. Don't wait until a day before they are due. I know some States change the rules and give little notice but, it is their job to find out early and get what we need done. This is not the first time on them having to have information filed timely.

Someone file a list of States that are not complete and how many signatures are still needed for cripes sake.

Damn I wish I knew this earlier. I was in Criminology class this morning and I was surprised that 3 people spoke up about supporting Ron Paul.

What can I do? I got to go get some signature forms immediately, right?

Yah, print off a ton of forms and have everyone you come in contact with sign it. They don't have to be a RP supporter. Just tell them they don't have any options right now and you want to make sure they have choices! I'm not sure if your state is republican only though.

if ron is absent from any state.. the media will jump on it faster than vultures over a baby antelope that a cheetah killed to feed her young.

What is, exactly? Has the campaign missed the deadline? Are they even showing signs of scrambling (based on the responses from the guy on the ground in RI, it sounds like things are well in hand)? Have they missed other deadlines? Why, NO! It seems the only thing they might be handling better is ministering to those with anxiety disorders on the Ron Paul Forums, by keeping them informed up to the minute as to the number of signatures currently collected but not submitted, and so on. But personally I recommend meds (or maybe just a few shots of bourbon), as the campaign can then focus on actually collecting the signatures rather than on sharing all of the information on an ongoing basis.

Sure, why don't you go do that?

Man, you seem fairly agitated yourself. Communication is important here. You all need to work transparently or things are gonna go wrong!

According to Wikipedia, Rhode Island is just classified as "primary." It doesn't specify if it is open or closed. So maybe non-Republican signatures will count.

Just messaged a libertarian friend who goes to URI, hopefully he can get the ball rolling.

I remember a thread the other day about this. I don't think Rhode Island will be forgotten, and I doubt the other campaigns are going to pass up a 1k signature requirement.

We have 34/1,000 so far.
The link is a live-count on the SOS' website.

PROVIDENCE, RI – The first day's results are in and Ron Paul leads all candidates in the race to collect the 1,000 signatures necessary to appear on the state's April 24 presidential primary ballot, Secretary of State A. Ralph Mollis announced this afternoon.

Candidates have until Feb. 2 to submit the signatures of at least 1,000 eligible Rhode Island voters. Here are the first day's results: • Ron Paul submitted a total of 50 valid signatures of voters from Hopkinton, North Kingstown and Richmond • Newt Gingrich submitted 26 valid signatures from North Kingstown • Mitt Romney submitted 26 valid signatures from North Kingstown • Rick Santorum submitted 26 valid signatures from North Kingstown • Buddy Roemer submitted 25 valid signatures from North Kingstown

Also, I must really suck at the internet because I can't find where to get nomination papers.
