Watch out for Rhode Island

Have a little faith in the campaign/grassroots. The signatures appear to be done, but not turned in yet. Chill out.

How do you know? and have they been verified to make sure we don't need more (some thrown out?)

I was told by the meetup leader that there's no need for worry or more help, that the signatures were covered fine

My boyfriend just moved from RI. Here's the response he got from the leader of his old meetup there:

"We'll be on it, no question about it between our own effort with 35+ people out there collecting signatures and the GOP signing parties that have been held we will have way more than enough to qualify. Thank you for asking and I hope that everything in your life is going well. Next up is people collecting signatures to be on the ballot as delegates. That means 150 signatures in 5 days.

I am very proud and impressed with the dedication of our Meetup members and how many of them were eager to get out there collecting signatures. More than 1/3 of the group being involved is far more than I've ever seen in any club or organization that I've belonged to. I'm proud to have been given the chance to help organize these great guys and gals.

Don't be a stranger and Keep the faith! Gary"

Chill out? Then why is there another thread having the same problems? They did get the signatures it appears.

http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?353484-Indiana-ballot-signatures-needed

What I am saying is, they should list any states with the total signatures lacking instead of these last minute panic threads. All does not appear under control or we would not see these last minute type threads.
We were not having problems in Indiana as others say people panic..we have had great communication but sometimes people run around saying things if they dont know the answers. I trust the campaign and the grassroots have been awesome.

Hmm...I know someone who lives in Rhode Island and was gonna try to get at least 1 signature there. But apparently we have enough?

I'm a little confused...does R.I. want to have no one on their ballot? And, why is the campaign waiting until less than a week before the election to get 1000 signatures? Shouldn't they have put out an APB? Surely there are scores of RP supporters in R.I.

This was on my mind as well.

I think its because many of them open 'petition' pretty late so not much time anyways. Its not like you can petition for signatures a year back. Rules for petitioning are totally stupid IMO.

I want to thank all of you for the concern you have shown in this thread for Ron Paul's status on the ballot here in RI.

Our presidential primary is on April 24. To be on the primary ballot candidates were required to submit their intent to run to our Secretary of State (SoS) Jan. 19-20-21. Nomination papers (the signature sheets) could be picked up from the SoS on the day that the intent to run was filed. We had until 4:00 pm on February 2 to turn all the signed sheets in to the local boards of canvassers of the various cities and towns. The final day for the canvassers to forward them to the SoS is today, February 15 so tomorrow morning we'll have the totals of verified signatures for all the candidates. Yesterday's totals were reported today and are:

Gingrich - 2859
Paul - 2659
Roemer - 1213 (his campaign manager lives in Rhode Island)
Romney - 3001
Santorum - 1449

45+ people comprised mainly of Rhode Island Ron Paul Meetup members, along with a few other volunteers, collected 1755+ raw signatures.

The RIGOP signature parties gathered 1200-1500 for each candidate. Roemer's total is probably a good indicator of how many verified signatures came from this effort since he had virtually no campaign presence, or really supporters, here in RI

I'll post the final totals here tomorrow morning. Sorry for not knowing about this thread before but the past few weeks have been very hectic with a lot of running around.

Keep the faith! Gary

Here are the final tallies

Gingrich - 3124
Paul - 3081
Roemer - 1419
Romney - 3302
Santorum - 1687

I'm very proud of the effort performed by the volunteers of the Rhode Island Ron Paul Meetup in helping to give Dr. Paul more than 3,000 verified signatures which was our goal when we began.
