Washington County caucus was closed due to 1-3" of snow...

I've never understood the whole move to canada threat. You end up with more of the same BS. It's the coffee isn't it?
Switzerland is the place to be NOT Canada. I view Switzerland as being more of how America should be today. I've heard Switzerland be referred to as more American than America.

But in an interview, Washington County Republican Chairman Chris Gardner said that when the decision was made to postpone the caucuses, he didn't realize his county's votes wouldn't count toward the total.
"I don't know that it would have changed the decision, but at least they would have known the consequence," Gardner, a Romney supporter, said.

Here in NY just a month and a half ago we received about 15" of snow, it was pretty much a blizzard, most schools were still open. Maine is usually worse. Any northeasterner will know that this is a BS reason to close down a presidential caucus.

Yeah, I only lived in Connecticut for a couple years in the past, but in that time I recall feet (not inches) of snow and nothing shutting down as a result, roads, schools, businesses were all still open--even airports. I even remember a blizzard which didn't shut much down.

As well, out of all supporters, RP's supporters are known for weathering inconvenient climates to go support him. Coincidence?

For me it's because I live 30 minutes from the Canadian border and could visit my family in the states any time I needed to.

Holy crap!!!

Good call GOP!

even senior citizens in Maine would not be deterred by 3 inches of snow.

they will have to count it, or it will look obvious

Next thing you know, they'll delay reporting results in Arizona because it's too hot.

why? I thought it was unofficial until ALL the votes are in?

Webster said any caucus results that come in after Saturday wouldn't be counted no matter how close the vote turned out to be.

"Some caucuses decided not to participate in this poll and will caucus after this announcement," Webster said. "Their results will not be factored in. The absent votes will not be factored into this announcement after the fact."

Does anyone know if anyone actually showed up in Washington County? When did they cancel it? Did anyone know it would be canceled ahead of time?

Some people are eternal optimists:

Caucuses in Washington County that had been scheduled for Saturday were postponed until Feb. 18 because of a major snowstorm that blanketed the region. Earlier, party Executive Director Michael Quatrano said county officials had been told the results of that caucus would not count toward the total.

But Washington County GOP Chairman Chris Gardner objected, saying he had known his county's tally wouldn't be included in Saturday's announcement but didn't realize it wouldn't be counted at all. He said he had called state party leaders and "expressed my complete and utter dismay."

Gardner, a Romney supporter, said the snowstorm had left him no choice but to postpone the caucuses.
"Refusal to reconsider under those circumstances would be extremely disheartening," he told The Associated Press. "I trust that the party will make the right decision here."

He added, "We will proceed next Saturday. We'll have our vote and we are going to submit it to the state party for them to reconsider."

Does anybody know how many voted in Wash County in 2008 ?

Ron Paul can get votes just by going somewhere. I don't know that he would've gone to Washington County. I'd like to see him there next week. He can hit one of the Hancock caucuses and the Washington County caucus. Hancock and Washington are next door to each other.

I hope the campaign/grassroots knows that the Washington county super caucus can still get us a belated win. They need to register new voters and Ron Paul personally needs to give the caucus stump speech at this county wide super caucus location. 30,000 people live in that county so it can be done even if it will be quite difficult.

Were the Hancock caucuses notified earlier that their late caucuses wouldn't have Pref polls that counted? 2 super caucuses in Hancock next weekend. and castine on march 3. did they know, when they set up the dates, that they would be disenfranchised?

Who cares? If you seriously think your going to replace 80+ years of public school indoctrination in five years and two election cycles you're off your rocker. This is a long term war for liberty and this is another small little blip on the map. Who cares? I don't. Now. We have 6 days and some hours to pack that meeting for Paul and win more delegates. We have to get 1500 delegates to Tampa no matter what the weather. And even if Paul loses the nomination on the first vote, we have a party leadership to vote out of office!! I say its time for the warmongers to put their tails between their legs and head back over to the DNC or let THEM go third party.

Don't forget Nevada 2008. This is not nearly over. We won't give up. This isn't about Ron Paul. This is about OUR belief in liberty, peace, and NATIONAL DEFENSE.

I don't care what name you attach to the year. Get it right!! Freedom 2008. Freedom 2010. Freedom 2012. Freedom 2014. Freedom 2016.

We can't let this country will be Detroit on steroids...

Remember Nevada!! Fight on!!

I think this is an excellent idea. He will have supporters from all of the Northeast there to greet him.
