The Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) is a proposed plurilateral trade agreement that would impose strict enforcement of intellectual property rights related to Internet activity and trade in information-based goods. The agreement is being secretly negotiated by the governments of the United States, the European Commission, Japan, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Canada, and Mexico.[1][2] If adopted at the 34th G8 summit in July 2008, the treaty would establish an international coalition against copyright infringement, imposing a strong, top-down enforcement regime of copyright laws in developed nations. The proposed agreement would allow border officials to search laptops, MP3 players, and cellular phones for copyright-infringing content. It would also impose new cooperation requirements upon internet service providers (ISPs), including perfunctory disclosure of customer information, and restrict the use of online privacy tools. The proposal specifies a plan to encourage developing nations to accept the legal regime.

FU!!!

It's called the 4th Amendment!!! Read it and obey it!!!

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

I will secure all my personal effects with whatever privacy mechanism of my choosing. It will be locked down so hard that any investigation by any branch of any government will never get access to my data for as long as they may exist!!!!!!!!!

This is called privacy, you F*cks!!!!

Since when have we had any rights to distribute other people's works without permission?

Try going and standing outside Barnes and Noble and handing out free photocopoes of Ron Paul's book. See how long before Ron Paul gets pissed at you. Because he will. Ron Paul is NOT in favor of copyright infringement. No sane person would be. (Which is why it is such a popular topic on these boards.)

The customs area of a border crossing is different than a person's home, and the ISP provider isn't even in someone's home.

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated..."

Though i will agree that this is a limitation on government and not a protection from ISPs that people voluntarily choose to do business with.

The sticky part of the OP is requiring ISPs to do this or that.

If art is a masterpiece people want an original copy.

Dr. Ron Paul doesn't have a problem with copyright infringement as much as he has a problem with talking negatively about the American Gandhi named Abraham Lincoln. The title of Ron Paul's next book needs to be "My baptism and why I have come to love Abraham Lincoln." This will increase the sales of his other books tremendously.

I wonder how much time they want to spend on a Supercomputer to break a 256 bit encryption in three cascading layers, Only to get my recipe for Pumpkin Butter.

Better yet, now much time do they want to spend on a Supercomputer to break a 256 bit encryption in three cascading layers, only to get a jpg picture of me giving them the finger?

I see your point, choke the system...

I don't understand the prior comments about RP's book and the tyrant, Lincoln

If they want you they will get you.
Happens a lot on the side of the road I hear.
Patriots should leave their shit at home to say the least and definitely keep their nose clean.
All they need is a reason and you're out of the game.

They don't even need a reason and they can still find a way to get you 'out of the way'.

That goes without saying I guess.

Edit: I think that was the point I was making now that I think about it a little more.

True dat.
But I also use an operating system that does not have the same inherent security problems as a certain well know and widely available system. The file system is different and less easy to mess with.
If they want to make up evidence they can, but I am not that big of fish.
I am the resistance. Whether out here or inside (been there before) I will still resist.
As long as I am sucking air.

Been reading DiLorenzo again? That guy and his books (the Real Lincoln and Lincoln unmasked) are a joke and are as much an example of revisionist history as the modern day garbage you'd criticize comes out of the highly revised public school system. I suggest you learn how to think for yourself and not spoon feed someone else's opinions (that's what DiLorenzo's are not facts) because they fit your agenda. Lincoln was not the great President American public education nor American society makes him out to be. But to categorize him as one of the worst is at best laughable.
