Wanna Bet Perry Doesn't Show Up To 9/7 Debate!?

gee, then what was the preparation time taken away from the wildfires for, with Perry tearing himself away from personally dousing flames and digging ditches and running into homes to save granny and the family hamster?

Its interesting. Apparently, the wildfires are a new thing? This season didnt ramp up around April, did it? Perry must need time to make his case for FEMA - put the secession Perry aside for a while, and bring out the pro-Fed Perry. He can always flop back later - never stopped him in the past.

it was Fox or Fox News mentioned a little bit ago that he "may not attend the debate". I say he's a no-show.

the sheep rewarded him with high poll numbers for not attending the Ames Straw Poll... perhaps he thinks he can do the same in the future.

Agreed - he'll bravely cower behind "the pile of corpses", until the battle dies down. Nobody expects a "Front Runner" to be the first into battle.

Perry is a coward - much like Romney.

Wasn't there a video of him this morning stating that he has an excellent team of capable people that are in constant contact with him no matter where he is, and that natural disasters are nothing new to Texas? Seems like he is saying he is such a good governor that he would be fine taking a few hours to talk to the people he's asking to support him.

Yeah, I wonder if he doesn't have a magic "signing" pen like Obama has...

I just got off the phone with a fellow Ron Paul supporter, and she made a great point. "Rick Perry won't show up tomorrow for the debate." The guy is a coward, DeMint even allowed Perry to go first last night at the Forum, to which he declined. These fires have been going on for months. How could he even justify not attending the Forum, then two days later attend the MSNBC debate? He is just like Romney, trying to minimize damage whenever he can...

Hopefully this new AD will reel Perry in, so Ron can merk on him

That's a good point. Mitt Romney doesn't show up to much either. I'm sure Perry will show to the debates, but he'll keep it on the down-low as often as possible.

Why the American public keep rewarding no-shows with their support is beyond me to comprehend.
because many live in a fantasy world. as long as you don't have to see or hear them you can fantasize about them being your ideal candidate that agrees with you 100%.

The blow back would be incredible if he no showed. He's got to go debate.

any questions he will have to answer will only hurt his numbers so why bother ?
no need to campaign when fox news does it for him .
no need to fund raise when special interests do that for him (his super pac has $55 mill alone) .

I don't think he will show up. His handlers know he would not fare well in this debate.

If Perry practices for this debate any less harder than he studied in college, he'll be in for a major humiliation.

This guy is going to crash and burn, I think Ron should've let Romney and Bachmann destroy Perry.

I know this: If he doesn't, we need to lambaste the hell out of him. Seen the movie Head of State?

Just a thought: don't insult someone else's intelligence in a sentence that includes the phrase "less harder". It doesn't play well.

His campaign spokesman announced that he's showing up about an hour ago.

Here's a question that could make a mark:
One answer that may haunt Perry is when a moderator asked if he would commit to serving a four-year term in Austin. Perry tried to duck—“I've got a lot of faith in the Lord and hope he's going to let me live for four more years”—but ultimately said he loved Texas so much that “Yes sir, absolutely” he would serve out his term. So much for that.

So, he swore in public that he'd finish out his term in 2010. Hillary stayed out of the 2004 election because she made a similar campaign promise when she won her NY Senate seat.

He will show up with a bunch of talking points... Ron Paul's talking points...

I hope Dick Perry shows up and gets asked if he will call on FEMA to help Texans in this "great crisis" they are having down there.

It's pretty widespread on news sites that he won't yet commit to the debate.
