Voting results of the CPAC straw poll.....

Jenna Robinson, a graduate student in North Carolina, who works at the Raleigh-based John William Pope Center for Higher Education, said she voted for Ron Paul. The libertarian-leaning lawmaker has been proven right about the nation’s precarious financial situation, she said.

“I feel like he’s the candidate most likely to stick to his convictions on individual liberty.”

People still voted for Jindal after his state of the union response? Yikes, we still have a lot of work to do.

I'm too cynical. I think every vote is rigged unless they count the votes in front of me.

Ron Paul didn't really try to win the vote this year. Ron Paul has come along way from two years ago.

in 2007 by a margin of 80 to 20, attendees favored sending more troops to Iraq.

in 2007 it was Romney 21%

Rudy 17 %

Brownback 15 %

Gingrich 14%

McCain 12

Paul didn't even register on the first ballot.

With another question things were different.

Gingrich 16
Rudy 16??

Romney 9

Brownback 8

McCain 8

Huckabee 6

Tancredo 5

Hunter 5

There was no Paul listed.

They asked who was your first choice, who was your second choice for president and then they combined them.

Here is the breakdown for 1st and 2nd choice.

Rudy 34

Gingrich 30

Romney 30

Brownback 24

McCain 20

Tancredo 9

Huckabee 8

Hunter 7

Paul 6

Gilmore 5

The following question was asked: “Thinking ahead to the 2012 Presidential election, who would you vote for as the next Republican nominee for President?”

1,757 CPAC attendants answered as follows:

1. Mitt Romney (20%)
2. Bobby Jindal (14%)
3. Ron Paul (13%)
4. Sarah Palin (13%)
5. Newt Gingrich (10%)
6. Mike Huckabee (7%)
7. Mark Sanford (4%)
8. Rudy Giuliani (3%)
9. Tim Pawlenty (2%)
10. Charlie Crist (1%)

9% were undecided.

People still voted for Jindal after his state of the union response? Yikes, we still have a lot of work to do.

They also chose Rush as their #1 source for news.. but one glimmer of hope is they chose Beck as #2 ahead of Hannity and O'Reilly. Or another way of looking at it is almost all of the Ron Paul voters chose Beck and the Romney/Jindal/Palin crowd split their votes up amongst the crowd of neoconservative talking heads. :(
Lots to do.
