I was selected a state delegate. I have never been to the state convention before. What day does voting for delegates to the national convention take place? Is it on Saturday June 9th? I read the tentative schedule for the state convention, but I was just left more confused reading it.

I'm new to this process too; and I'm going to the state convention. Would you post a link the the tentative schedule?

Found it from the FAQ section.

What is a congressional district caucus?

State Convention delegates will meet twice in caucuses made up of only those from each of the state's thirty-six congressional districts. Delegates there will elect a permanent caucus chairman, elect three delegates and three alternates to the Republican National Convention, and elect one person to the National Nominations Committee. Delegates will also cast votes for the positions of Presidential Elector, National Committeeman and National Committeewoman. For these positions, the recommendation of the caucus will be forwarded to the National Nominations Committee by the district's member to the committee who shall support them on at least the first round of voting

Which means, each congressional district chooses 3 delegates and 3 alternates from its caucus of roughly 200 people. (so choose your congressional caucus chair carefully) You also choose one person for the permanent nominations committee. These folks usually nominate themselves to be at large delegates, which will leave a handful of other delegate spots for that committee to fill plus about 4 dozen alternates.

The nominations committee report will then be put before the convention on Saturday. Don't plan to leave early. Don't plan to leave on time. Plan to stay seated until the final gavel falls. (Bring snacks, water, adult diapers, extra phone battery, etc.)
