Video update: Rand Paul on Hannity Fox News show 1/26/12

What Rand needs to do is focus on FP and try to convert Hannity when talking to him, or at least get him to consider RP's FP as reasonable.

He does, and he tries to frame fp issues in a way that Hannity (or at least his viewers) should agree with.

1) We should only go to war with a full declaration of war. We should then go all out and win the war quickly, declare victory, and then bring all of our troops home. No nation building, and no policing of the world.
2) We should be reluctant to go to war and try to find other options to avoid war.

A father will attack his own son over something that they agree on? Hannity is pure scum and thinks Rand has cozied up to him enough to the point where he assumes it's okay to disparage Rand's own father because they're the cool kids and Ron's the kook. And Rand just takes it.

Exactly.

Ok, so let's say Rand gets indignant over this and tells Hannity off. Hannity says "Calm down, you know I'm only joking." Then Rand looks foolish and the listeners don't think any better of Ron.

People like Hannity are not forthright. They always couch their attacks in such a way that they can deny they're even attacking at all. Then they make you look silly for "overreacting".

Sean seems stupid but he has a certain animal cunning about him. He didn't get his job for no reason at all.

Rand just isn't someone who's going to be confrontational with someone that he's trying to bring over to his side. He wants to get along with Hannity so that he'll get support from the talk radio types when he runs for President. He isn't going to go on Hannity's show and try to start a feud with him like many here want him to do.

You are not seriously trying to tell me that PRettyBoy's listeners THINK BETTER OF RON when Hannity OPENLY DISPARAGES HIM AND RAND TAKES IT?

Puleeze.

Grow up.

Rand looks as though he AGREES with hannity.

It makes Ron look HORRIBLE for his OWN FLESH AND BLOOD SON to sit there unwilling to defend his father.

Exactly. It seemed like more of a joke from Hannity, although it wasn't a funny joke. It certainly wasn't a "vicious attack." The worst thing you can do is over react when stuff like that is said.

Overall, Hannity has been much more fair to Ron than Mark Levin. Now, if Rand actually goes back on Levin's show after the vile and disgusting things Levin has said about Ron, I'll have a problem with that.

And that is why I called Rand naive and said you are in for a surprise in 2016. Hannity will be attacking him when he is running in the same way he attacks Ron.

I totally agree - Rand is acting in what he believes is his own best interest for his political future.

And I care not a whit about Rand's political future.

Sorry, I just don't.

It will be worse - Hannity will play the tapes of himself saying awful things about Ron and Rand just sitting there completely failing to defend his own father.

It will make Rand look totally weak.

I guess we'll have to wait and see. Though Rand won't be running in 2016 if a Republican wins the White House this year.

Then who do we have left after Ron retires?

No, but they won't think better of Ron if they think Rand can't take a joke. Did you listen to any of these Hannity interviews? Sean is not lambasting Ron in front of Rand. That's just not true. He's taking sly little digs at him that he can always walk back when challenged. Didn't you hear Sean say over and over, "I'm not doing that" whenever Rand complained about the media?

If Ron doesn't win the nomination, a Republican won't be anywhere near the White House.

That's probably true if Gingrich wins the nomination. But the polls seem to indicate that Romney has about a 50-50 chance to beat Obama.

Rand should say: "I don't appreciate your disparaging jokes about my father." That way he can't say, "I'm just joking."
