[Video] Ron Paul farewell speech on House floor 11/14/12

That paltry excuse for applause.... that entire room should have been filled and roared with applause for that man.
SPEAKER, "Members of the galley, will be reminded, that it is, inappropriate to express approval or disapproval, uh, proceedings"

No problem for the Nationally televised applause for when the president or one of minions speak at their political Kabuki Theater TV reality shows on corp media. Even worse, when foreign politicians give speeches from the chair, and the jellyfish jump to joy, especially when someone from the terrorist state Israel speaks.

Fuck their decorum bullshit.

Some of you seem mixed on that speech, I thought it was once of his most brilliant yet. The delivery may have been a little off, but he slapped them around pretty good and I loved how he centered his approach around virtue and compassion, in a way which people who flaunt their faith, can never manage to do. He presents a positive, inspiring approach to pursuing conservative policies, rather than the typical gloom and doom scare tactics. The GOP desperately needs that right now, if they're not too stupid to see it. I loved it.

That was a really beautiful speech, if not his best delivery.

The part where he slapped down the assholes who booed the Golden Rule was my favorite, but there were so many good parts it's hard to pick just one.

what exactly did he say regarding it?
..
Ron Paul said:
The problem we have faced over the years has been that economic interventionists are swayed by envy, whereas social interventionists are swayed by intolerance of habits and lifestyles. The misunderstanding that tolerance is an endorsement of certain activities, motivates many to legislate moral standards which should only be set by individuals making their own choices. Both sides use force to deal with these misplaced emotions. Both are authoritarians. Neither endorses voluntarism. Both views ought to be rejected.

Our constitution, which was intended to limit government power and abuse, has failed. - Ron Paul
Indeed! Let's scrap the silly notion of a constitution and move towards voluntaryism. Words on paper have never and will never control the growth of the state. "Getting back to the constitution" is not going to happen, and even if it did, the state would once again grow to become an empire in a matter of time.

But whether the Constitution really be one thing, or another, this much is certain - that it has either authorized such a government as we have had, or has been powerless to prevent it. In either case, it is unfit to exist. - Lysander Spooner 1867

Entire house session is up on the C-SPAN website. Can't post a link yet, so you'll have to delete the spaces. Maybe someone can fix the link.

Ron's speech starts about 2 hours, 10 minutes in.

I hope in the 2nd part of his speech he mentions Stefan Molyneux Walter Block Lew Rockwell and other voluntaryist types ;)tell EM how government is immoral RON GO GET EM!! :)

Well, that should put to rest any debate. Ron Paul is a voluntarist.

Wasn't much of a debate to begin with (just a bad case of denial). But yes, concurred. It isn't really up for argument after that speech.

dayum this thread moves fast!

We need 50 of this great man .. awesome speach, thanks for the transcript too.

I'm sure there will be a tube soon.

I think the good doctor might have been the victim of that *two thirty feeling* there a couple of times but he got his mojo back pretty quickly. I'm sure with a better crowd (us) he'd have fed off the energy and had a much more energetic delivery.

I was darn surprised that there was a round of applause.. and when I heard it, I was pretty sure there was gonna be a mod spank for it - it's hard to stifel aproval for liberty
