[Video] Rand Paul speaks on fiscal cliff negotiations 12/31/12

The goddamn Republicans should have Rand Paul as their respondent to the President's lies. Use him fools!!!

Channel 4 News (a very well respected news programme over here) just showed a short clip of Senator Paul's speech, which was a pleasant surprise. They clearly they see him as a "mover and shaker" in the fiscal cliff situation.

There was some guy on CNN about 20 minutes ago who claimed that Rand "lied" about something he said during an interview with CNN. Did anyone catch that?

Yea Ali Velshi basically trashed Rand for comparing us to Greece. Ali said the US will never default on its debt because we can print our own bonds.

I'm willing to bet 90% of the idiots who inhabit Washington think the same thing...

They obviously think that doing what you're suggesting will be bad for Marco Rubio's presidential run.

I guess Kathy Griffin was bashing Rand on CNN's new years show, telling Anderson Cooper that the only thing she didn't like about his show was that he had "that right wing nut job Rand Paul on too much."

And who will buy them at the current rates??? Velshi is another tool.

Rand just voted no. Lee, Harkin, and Carper I think are the only nos so far. Update, Richard Shelby votes no.

The 'goddamn Republicans' are on Obama's side when it comes to pretty much everything. The last thing they want to do is stop the guy who is looking to increase power for the state at every turn.

Wow. Rubio voted no. Clearly waited to make sure the thing passed. Bennet from Colorado is a no.

Rand Paul is gaining steam!

Seemed as if he represented the Conservative wing of the GOP the most throughout this entire process. Kudos to him. Rubio will say in 4 years he voted no, but only Rand can say he made a fight out of it.

If nothing else, I bet you Rand Paul's vote made sure Rubio voted no. Rubio doesn't want to be outflanked on his right.

Argh, him voting for this pisses me off so much. You can tell he's going to be portrayed as a true conservative now, and will brag about this when he runs for president. I'm sure Hannity will be crowing about it and won't bother to mention Rand's name.

Rubio also waited to cast his vote. Rand (already dressed to leave) stormed in, voted no, and promptly left. Rubio probably didn't vote for another 10-15 minutes, probably talking to his advisers about how to vote..
