[Video] Rand Paul on The Situation Room w/ Wolf Blitzer 8/30/13

Blitzer is a former lobbyist for AIPAC. He's basically an Israeli agent. So, it's no surprise that during the interview he was trying to subtly discredit and marginalize Rand.

Keep reading the thread; I realize that now. =P

On the contrary, there are and have always been plenty of people who refuse to pander and are brutally honest; these people never change things though, because the way you gain power in a democracy is via pandering and dishonesty. This is one of the reasons democracy is such a terrible form of government. But it's what we have, and so we must work within it to change things.

So, what's a better form of government? A monarchy?

I do remember that, and I don't blame him at all for appearing there, but watching it still makes me cringe. He really dropped the ball there/was not prepared to say the politically-popular-but-obviously-wrong thing.

Have you been lurking for 4 years?

Ugh, Theo, you had to post that video and remind me why I hate Huckabee so much, didn't you? Platitude, platitude, platitude and the crowd cheered.

I bet those people aren't cheering now. :D

A monarchy would be better, yes. A strong argument for why can be found in Hans-Hermann Hoppe's Democracy: The God That Failed.

If you're not entirely prepared to take the red pill, I hope you would at least agree that a constitutional republic would be preferable to pure democracy.

We were founded as a republic. A constitutional republic, to be specific. Where the rights of the minority, or the one, were to be protected against the force of the majority.

monarchy > constitutional republic for achieving this end

come at me bro

How to win friends and influence people. Perhaps you should take a tip from Rand.

I've read that book and it is excellent. Where you err is in assuming that I am trying to be your friend or influence you. I am not. I am attempting to educate you. This requires that you recognize a deficit in your understanding and that I can fill it. It does not require that you like me.

It is not incumbent on me to behave as Rand does because he is trying to become President and I am not. I am trying to help you understand the tactics he is employing in that endeavor so that your enthusiasm for his candidacy does not wane. He deserves your time, money, and support even more than Ron did. So give them freely!

I understand why he did it. I just find it distasteful that he HAD to do it. At some point someone has to stop all this pandering and be honest, otherwise nothing will ever change.

Also, why do you have to be such an asshole?

Not bad mouthing Reagan isn't pandering. There is no upside to answering these types of questions that are meant to get a headline quote. Rand stuck to substance and not individuals.

And frankly, Reagan was a great President. He certainly wasn't perfect, but Rand should seriously look into putting Reagan on Mt. Rushmore if he gets elected.

Jesus Christ, what part of "I understand why he did it" don't you get? I was simply lamenting the fact that it was necessary for him to answer the way he did. Your condescending attitude and name calling is totally unnecessary. And I have given him my money. So there. Nya!

it was very subtle but wolf blitzer's body language changed when rand mentioned this could lead to military attack on israel in retaliation

someone on youtube reminded others that blitzer is jewish so when rand mentioned possible ramifications on israel i was specifically looking for blitzer's reaction.. and indeed there it was. rand seemed to notice as well as he dwelled on that point longer than his other points and drove it futher

He's certainly getting better, but years later I'm still haunted by that disaster on Maddow. These things always make me nervous.

That Maddow interview was the best thing that ever happened to Rand. Were it not for that interview, I don't think he would be as good as he is now.

Maybe, but he also wouldn't have the baggage he does now. The Maddow interview will haunt him to the grave; it will be dredged up and replayed relentlessly during the 2016 race, coupled with certain other tendentious attack lines (Jack Hunter, the Ron Paul Survival Report), and done with such drama and demagoguic fervor that most of the leftists in this country will be convinced Rand Paul is the biggest bigot against minorities of every kind since Hitler. And if he's up against an "oppressed-demographic" themed candidate like Hillary in the general election, it will make for an extremely powerful (even if utterly bogus) media narrative-- it could have Democratic turnout at a near record high. Maybe I'm being pessimistic here, but I do think this is all extremely likely.

The worst thing about that Maddow interview wasn't so much what was said but the fact that Maddow made Rand look like a bitch. But, I don't think this interview will factor in much, if, he runs for POTUS. Everybody has awkward moments in front of the camera that they would take back if they could. Rand's no different.

HaHa...I should know these things by now, shouldn't I? :p
