[Video] Rand Paul on CNN w/ Wolf Blitzer following SOTU address

OMG. I am appalled. What good is Rand Paul going to be if he cant even defend liberty and free markets in the most basic of ways? He can't even come out against minimum wage. And after 2.5 more years of campaigning, how much further will he have drifted away from liberty?

That's it, there goes my last bit of hope for Rand Paul. I'm done with him, unsubscribing from his stuff right now. He has been given a bully pulpit for liberty and he isn't using it at all.
Here's an answer from Rand to you.
"I've got half the libertarians on the Internet beating up on me for not being pure enough," Paul says, "and the rest of the mainstream beating up on me for being too libertarian. It's a box they put me in."

"But I'm in the business of trying to advance a philosophy and advance an economic program that's better for the country. And I'm also in the business of winning elections and trying to convince people to come in the direction of smaller government and more individual liberty," Paul says. "I sometimes wish for a little more forebearance among the purists, but I'm trying to do the best I can to advance a philosophy and program that is more individual liberty for everyone and is pulling in the direction of what some of the purists might want" even if they "might not see it as pure as they'd like."
:)

Rand talks about how he thinks there should be a safety net like he always does in a recent video, Im not sure if its this one, but he said something new that stuck out to me. He said he believes in a more localized safety net or basically a state level safety net, did anyone notice that and direct me to that video if you could?

He does say something similar to that here, but I dont think it's this video.

I don't have the video but I do recall something like that too. It's kind of a convenient and sneaky way to say that you support social welfare programs. When he does not clarify further most people assume he is talking about the federal level.

And if you make a vague statement like saying there should be a "safety net," it doesn't even have to mean a government safety net, but a safety net provided by churches, private charities, etc.

Oops, been awhile since I visited.

This is a bully pulpit? It's nothing right now compared to when you are the president

Bully pulpit indeed. Look what Ron did as mere Congressman. Rand is a freaking Senator, with the additional platform provided by being a presidential candidate and attending all but one televised debates.

I would rather have Rand pick and choose the liberty issues that will win the election, not go 100% on everything and suffer the same fate as Ron's multiple failed runs.

There is a reason we why Ron Paul got 39.7% more votes in 2008, and 307.1% more in 2012.

Rand, I'm sorry it turned out this way, but you should have known trying to please everyone ends up pleasing almost no one. Stand your ground for liberty somewhere (and it doesn't have to be perfect - not even Ron was).

What's past is past, every day is a new day we can start out fresh and do things right from this point forward.
