Yea I'm sure it is safer for the cop to use the tank...That's a ridiculous point to make.
The point that should be made is what happens when the cop is the bad guy?
What happens when the government goes full tyrant? How will the people defend themselves against this kind of force?

The argument was lame....well if columbine happens!!
First of all thats the same stupid excuse like yelling 9/11 everytime to defend their war mongerng and spying and groping.
Second of all, Balko pretty much said 5 times before he's not arguing against a swat team in a hostage or shooting scenario, but still thats the only point this guy uses, WTF, he's like a rudy guiliani....
Third and most tragic, during columbine when children and teachers were being slaughtered and needed immediate assistance, the terrified swat team took their sweet time to wait until the armed kids already offed themselves. It was too dangerous and they couldnt put officer lives at risk. Their training mainly wrks against unarmed people and house pets.
