Yeah I have to get it off of the DirecTV receiver's HD-DVR to either one of my laptops/of PCs (20 ft away) the AV wall cabinet loaded with a wired nightmare, but I can remove the DVR unit. don't know how to get this off the DVR unit to my PC (no after market hdmi/video capture board/etc), just standard on-board audio/video connections for laptops and PCs. PM is you have an Idea how to expedite this SW/HW. Damn, I wish I didn't sell my old stuff that had all of the A/V gear in it. (I was planning on up grading to ASUS HDAV soundcard with HDMI connects)

If nothing else you should be able to capture the audio from your DVR by using a standard y-splitter audio cable. One end has two RCA connections (red/white) and the other has a standard audio plug that you plug into your computer's headphone jack. Then just use sound recorder to record a WAV file. If you don't have an HDMI or sort of video capture device I don't think you can capture the video without recording the TV with a camera phone. But little USB video capture devices are cheap and might be a good investment!
